Re: Are Your Friends Allowed To Handle Your Transformers?
Only person I know who's that interested in my TFs is my goddaughter (3 year old). I let her play with my TFs under supervision 'cos... well, they're toys. I'll steer her away from some of my G1 reissues, 'cos Prowl's windshield might as well be made of tissue paper. Besides, she can have great fun making the Animated Legends chase around after each other.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

My collection is for the most part behind closed doors and not on display. My girlfriend's one attempt at transforming came when I softy removed Henkei Prowl from her hands and handed her G1 Swerve instead.

True story.
First Transformer was G1 Optimus Prime. Pleaded for months to get him from my parents.
Second day I had him, the heathen bastard child of one of my mom's friends snapped his leg clean off.
Credit though to other collectors who have never picked up or handled a toy without permission.
(Though one or two have almost backed up into one or more of the walls of shelves I have. I don't blame them though, I get dizzy looking at my stuff too.)

His LEG?? That took some skill...
Like several others, aside from my son I really don't have anyone who gives a **** about Transformers so it's not much of an issue...I would never put my hands on someone else's collection (transformers or not) without permission...

My friends love to look at the collection. Some of them make fun of me for it, but they love to look. Most of the time they ask and never mess with the "top shelf" stuff (MP, Binaltech, large figs). If they ask I usually don't care, but I stay there with them.
Unfortunately I have one brother who finds it amusing to put them, on display, in compromising positions when I am not looking (ex Universe Grimlock as fingercuffs between Prime and Megatron). Jerk.
Oh, and, NO KIDS are allowed to touch.

Re: Are Your Friends Allowed To Handle Your Transformers?
Friends and older relatives are allowed to transform figures on my main shelf at will, since most of my collection is BW and the more recent toys.
If they want to attempt a go at an Alternator or something harder I'm all to willing to let them, and then mock them for their paltry efforts.
Like a number of you, I've found that its the females that like to fiddle with the figures more, and more often than not they give up on the tougher figures, which is fine, gives me something to do when they leave. The GF is getting pretty good at figuring transformations out.
However when the littlies come to visit, depending on their age, they get to play with the Bumper Battlers, Activators and doubles of older figures (like old Predator Jets) to keep them away from the proper figures.

I have a cybertron downshift my friends can do what they please with. I ended up with two of them so they can enjoy. I also have three turbofires and I let the beat up one get played with. Other than that though I dont let my friends touch them. They all think they are geniuses and can transform anything to prove a point.....they cant.

Re: Are Your Friends Allowed To Handle Your Transformers?
My collection is hands off for the most part, but I don't have issues with people holding figures or attempting a transformation as long as they ask.
I actually only have 2 friends that have been brave enough to fiddle with some figures and they always hand the figure to me when they get stuck. I had one friend (not anymore) who was responsible for breaking 3 figures when I was younger. He never did replace them...
I believe that as a collector we must also respect each others collections. That is why I myself would never touch a figure from someone elses collection unless I had their permission. I expect the same courtesy.
