The alt/plane mode is awesome, and the robot mode actually looks like his character from the G1 cartoon.

Really? I don't seem to remember Powerglide having a massive upper torso. He looks like he could take on a dinobot for goodness sake (with a deluxe Grimlock though, it might not be too unbelievable).

he didn't have a huge chest, but his arms and legs are still skinny and wimpy just like on the cartoon. they also did a good head mold and his wings are engineered nicely in the way they fold up onto the body like the G1 figure. there is no mistaking what character he is supposed to be, even if you don't see his head. He is completely out of class though. a bunch of other characters could/should have been slotted for an Ultra class mold.

Now that I think about it, movie Dropkick is pretty damn awesopme, engineering wise. He folds from a unique and complex robot mode into a nice, neat-lined truck. Done.

As I fiddle around with Henkei Hound I can't help but admire the engineering of the figure:

- The seats fold into his thighs seamlessly.
- The limited amount of kibble.
- The range of motion and ample amount of joints.

Transformers have certainly come a long ways over the past 25 years. So what figures are you impressed with when it comes to engineering?

I completely agree. IMO, Hound and Cyclonus are simply the best deluxe Transformers ever. Both are extremely well engineered and so amazingly true to the original characters. They're the epitome of what a classics figure should be.

I really do like hound but his drastically hollow back will always keep him down a couple notches to me...The wheels "covering" it up just doesn't do it for me...It irks me the way the back of his head is just sorta hanging off with nothing supporting it... (not to mention the unneccessary issue with his holo-projector)...

I see Hound as a figure that COULD have been the "epitome of what classic figures should be" but just didn't quite hit the mark...

Universe Cyclonus still rocks the house though...Had him for awhile now and I still have nothing I find worth complaining about with him...Absolutely brilliant...

I agree with that holo-projector issue, it's a PITA. I just wound up settling with it as a gun.

I'll have to cast a vote for the SEVERELY underrated Movie Landmine figure. There are just too many awesome things about that guy to name.

I'm also going to say that G1 Jetfire (although not an original mold) was revolutionary for its time. That old mold can still hold its own against modern transformers.
