I also have the metal tin Chinese box set. It's fantastic. And for the price, it's a steal. I look forward to learnig what this new re-release will have that's different, but I doubt I'll buy it. Maybe in a few years when I upgrade from my 27" CRT TV and have a nice 55" wide-screen with blueray.... (not that a 1984 cartoon will look that much better)

I've got the full set (including the movie). It's Chinese although you can watch the cartoons in English too (phew!). I'm not sure who put it out--the discs are in a booklet of sleeves (covered in techspecs and cool art), inside a blue transformers box, inside a transformers tin, inside a brown transformers box, inside a brown transformers bag!

I've got the exact same set and I'm quite pleased with it. The only way I'm getting this new set is if it comes remastered with great bonus content.
If not I'll be passing on it.

I also have that set and am only interested in this new one if they clean up some of the animation errors in a way that works

OR more importantly if it comes with bonus content like commentaries and such.
