Ok wise guy, you're right. If you were a super BW fan then yes, you are missing something. Hells, I'm a casual BW fan, own the 06 set although it's only the box and not the add ons, and I feel like my life is lacking bacause I don;'t have the Megatron and Waspinator figures. You had to bring that up, huh?
Yeah, but seriously CP, what I meant was that we all know the 07 Seekers debate, and the 06 BW set doesn't present that kind of a problem, even for way die hard BW fanatics. It's not like any of the characters were even shown in Cybertronian modes during the show so it;s not like an integral part of the show is lost by not having the set.
I understand your marketing ploy here and all, I was just attempting to clarify. So, you propose that we create an artificial demand for the 06 Botcon set? I'm on board for that.

That being said, I don't think there's any need to create artificial demand for the 2006 set. It's already the most expensive one out there. I mean, when you start off needing 7-8 hundred bucks to get Megatron and Waspinator alone...

Aside from the Megatron/Waspinator set, the Laserbeak/Buzzsaw figures are really great and pretty tough to come by. I got them last summer sort of by accident and feel pretty lucky to have done so. Like the Virulent Clones from 05, you dont see them too often but when you do you needs to jump on them cause it'll be a year 'fore they surface again. (Got those two last summer too....).
Heck, in all honesty, I think the 06 set is the one you see the least of all on eBay or whatever. Hmmm.

The four blue tupperwears have my WIP Jazz, Swindle 2, Reflector and Tracks. All the rest are under the table.

On a side note, I was browsing the galleries and saw allot of the Botcon exclusives that were sold, that were repaints of cybertron characters, that ended up being made into new molds for classics..

Jazz is a good example..

I would like to see a Diaclone homage set, which consists of the following:

Blue Voyager Prime(Diacone Powered Convoy)
Black Voyager Megatron
Red Deluxe Mirage
Police-Type Deluxe Sunstreaker
Black Deluxe Ironhide
Blue Silverstreak
Brown Ravage

...and anything else along those lines.

On the BotCon evaluation forms, this was almost exactly the set I recommended them to do for next year.

If they had Wheeljack, Trailbreaker, and Tracks, by then...I would recommend Marlboro, blue, and red, respectively.

Cue my broken record but I still want to see some of the key players from Go-bots get the Classics treatment and seeing that Botcon got the ball rolling with Bug Bite, I would like to see then follow that storyline by have more of them show up as repaints/retools.

Turbo: Cybertron or Classics Hot Shot
Pathfinder: Classics Cosmos

Thank you very much. I really think Hasbro dropped the ball when they released Red Alert in the first Movie as Crankcase.

Your a little off base as Shattered Glass Jazz doesn't count as a Classic/Universe Jazz. You were away so you may not know that last year, Hasbro was trying not to release 2 similar versions of the same character between Universe and Animated. That's the only offically stated reason why Jazz didn't get a Universe figure. Prowl got a pass because his Animated character was so different as to not be confused with Universe. Botcon exclusives don't fall under that policy so he was made as a villainous Autobot. They can still do an official one when Universe comes back in 2010. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the focus figure of the first wave.

Hasbro should've used EJ Su's designs for Ratbat as an electronic device and tucked that into their Real Gear line. That and Nick Roche's designs for Doubledealer would be cool for all-new molds.

Speaking of Ratbat, Hasbro could get some mileage out of a transforming bat 'bot by making Mindwipe, and then repainting him into Ratbat & a store-exclusive Nightscream.

Even though the robot modes don't look alike, howsabout repainting Energon Battle Ravage & Divebomb into Pounce & Wingspan? Hasbro could save money by using one head sculpt for both.

Check out the sketches in the back of the Revelation TPB-Roche redrew Doubledealer's bird mode into some kinda freaky insect/dragon-looking thing. Looked cool with a stinger on it, but it might be a pretty big departure from the original design.

I think there's a good deal of possible truth in the Jazz-focus idea. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out in 2010 or whenever the Universe line picks back up if Jazz is the flagship figure for the re-release.

I think we seriously need some new and accurate resculpted and (silver Painting) Dinobots and Insecticons!! I want some kickback, and Swoop, Slag and more!! if we are gonna get classics, then let us get some new bugs! that would sooo rock!

- Cybertron Soundwave\Classics Blaster - Swoop with the "cassette" called Divebomb. I thought Blaster was a cop-out and Swoop would've been the better choice - Swoop works just as well for a plane, in my opinion.

- Classics Bumblebee w\new head - Runamuck\Runabout. Similar robot mode and they're characters you don't hear much about.

- Classics Onslaught - G1 Stalker.

Also, the Skyfire to Star Sabre suggestion was real class!

I thought the same thing and was going to use the Botcon Dreadwind head. I started making them in 07 but never got around to cloning the heads. I've got a wait list a mile long at this point!

Wouldn't a set of those two be a bit too large for a Botcon set though? I think it was about two years ago someone mentioned the convention set could be made up of Titanium figures since that line was getting axed and people were all over that idea for being too heavy or some such nonesense, so wouldn't two leader size figures draw similar complaints for size, not to mention only having two toys? I kindsa like the idea, so I'm not poo-pooing you, but it's just a thought. Personally, I think Magnus/Nemesis Prime repaints are already looooonnnnnngggg overdone, but woulnd't be adverse to this idea.

If there was a new deluxe mold for Hoist and Trailbreaker, perhaps they could give it a dual-transformation scheme a-la-Sunstreaker/Sideswipe and also do Gears and Swerve with the same mold. Obviously they could get Huffer and Pipes with one mold. I'd love to see a deluxe or larger version of Warpath.

I like some of the other ideas here too, such as Wheeljack and Tracks. Other than that, I wouldn't mind seeing some more Stunticons. Perhaps even make them a proper combiner and not a repaint from Energon or some other line.

They did Huffer at Botcon 2007 from Cybertron Armorhide (whom already looked like Pipes) so they won't do that again. Energon Downshift is Wheeljack to a T and Cybertron Swerve is pretty dead on too. And as I showed earlier in this thread, Trailbreaker would be an easy and awesome repaint of C Red Alert! For the smaller or more obscure bots, we have to be willing to accept other lines and their repaints because it doesn't look like Hasbro is going to do them anytime soon.

there are just too many cool bots out there that could be repainted and released under the universe line..

A straight up carbon copy repaint of TF Movie Wreackage in this color and details!!

shoot! he'd be a cool Fallen figure for Universe .. like an Earth version or something!! he is just one of the coolest figures to ever get made, and I love him.. I just wish he could get a new paint job and name for the universe/classic series.. or even a Botcon debut!! I'd even buy a set just to get him..regardless of the other figures in it! he is just that sweet, to me..

There's a problem using movie figs though. I believe (all of this is hearsay, but it sounds reasonable) that every time a movie mold is used to create a figure (whether it's for an official movie line or not), then Paramount gets a piece of the sale due to them having joint stakes in the Movie franchise with Hasbro.

That's why, outside of the movie line, we haven't seen a single movie fig used.
