That looks good 009*. I am going to try that.
Yes he will combine with LC OP. The instructions come Jetfire.
vectorA3 wrote:seein those pics make me want him. Stupid question, you can buy LC Jetfire and he will combine with Prime correct --there is no 2 pack with special pieces/connectors??
I love the SR-71 mode, one of my favorite planes, but u can see too much robot underneath -looks bulky. I'm on the fence for now, but if i see him in the store, I'll seriously think about getting him for combo mode with my LC Prime.

thx Downshift. Too bad when u combine the 2 Prime doesn't say "Let's roll!" How awesome would that be? I'm a little tired of "I am Optimus Prime." Esp. when u hit it on accident.

I just got him and wow is he bad. I can't get him to stand in robot mode, he's either leaning forward, leaning backward, or his knees give out under his weight. It's a good thing he comes with a cane cause he needs it. His jet mode is ok, nice and big, but the wings won't stay in place they just flop around. The combined mode is terrible, it took me half an hour just to attach the two of them. The thrusters barely stay up, if someone sneezes in the next room they drop down. When combined they have no articulation, it looks good, so it's pretty much just a statue. Save you're money and just get the legends class.

Man, am I glad to read that. last night I was at WalMart getting a Voyager Megatron, and I saw Jetfire after wanting to get him and not seeing him for 2 weeks. I thought about it really hard, was even thinking about giving up Voyager Megs, but something told me "Don't do it, not worth $50" and I didn't get it. Now I know why.

I think you purchased a lemon. I would return it to the store and get another one. I have two and both are just perfect. They can handle all sorts of poses with no problem. I do admit the first one I got his right wing in jet mode will flop down with a gentle touch but I have to actually touch the wing on top, the second one is great. My friend love his as well and has not complained about any thing. So I would say Hasbro had a quality control issue with the one you got.

I've already started working on him. I fixed the wings in place with green stuff and I'm going to see if I can tighten his joints a bit.

Different sounds? No. The sound chips we get nowadays are not as good as RiD Prime/Magnus. They're the only TFs that impressed me with the sounds, even though the voices and phrases are wrong.
Repaints? Oh yes. There'll be a G1 JF don't you worry.

the point of this thread says it all...
ROTF Jetfire is like some women and some men (to be fair)
Only good for One thing!!
Combining...
I can't stand his robot mode, though it does look close to the movie, the altmode sucks.. it's a glorified shell bot.. and most people are only interested in the Combined form..evidence by this thread.. honestly he should be cheaper then the other leader class figures..

Well, most people should be getting Jetfire mainly for the purpose of combining with Optimus Prime. Jet Optimus is just that good, especially with the fan mode reversed feet configuration.
As kibble-tastic as the alt mode is, I think it's necessary if you consider the difficulty in designing a toy that can resemble the movie Jetfire but also resemble a blackbird. The compromise is that in robot mode, it resembles Jetfire but not exactly(the movie version makes Jetfire look like his alt parts fold up extremely well), and in alt mode, the Blackbird is great but only from the top and angles that don't reveal the underside. If you want to conceal the robot kibble and house the electronics, the alternative is to make a big shell on the bottom of the alt mode, which then ruins the appearance of the alt mode worse than having visible kibble. The design also requires that it serves as a support frame for combining with Leader OP, further adding to design headaches. Jetfire isn't perfect but I think the design is as good as it can be for its considerable workload.
I have no problem standing my Jetfire. It was difficult at first because my Jetfire was packaged with its feet incorrectly set. Once I fixed the feet and posed it like a hunched over old bot, it was fine. Make no mistake, due to the weight of the toy and the design of the legs, it's not a super poseable figure.
Leader Jetfire is worth the price of a Leader class toy if you look at its purposes. As a standalone toy, it's best for hardcore movie Jetfire fans who can deal with its faults. As a toy paired with Leader OP, it definitely shines.

I appreciate your great assessment of why you like Jetfire.. and i don't begrudge anyone who likes this figure.. you are correct, the big plus of this toy is his combining with Optimus, but my POV is that it almost looks like Hasbro cut allot of corners on their figures.. for example, would it have killed them to put in Megatron's arm a small pivotal joint? it just seems like there are some little bits that have to be cut off some figures to make them work properly..overall I think that Hasbro wa son a crummy time table because of the movie release.. and as such their design for Jetfire and little pieces of other characters have suffered as well..
I think that Jetfire could have been made differently and it would have been very complex in transformation, but I think they could have done jetfire a bit better had they the time.. look at ROTF Optimus Prime, they came back to that design after the 1st movie and made a huge amount of leaps and bounds.. that figure totally rocks now!! and Is so accurate..
so I like the fact jetfire combines with Prime, I like how he looks from the top in altmode.. but in botmode and in altmode from any other angle.. I just feel like that should make his price a bit cheaper..like maybe by 10.00 dollars..since he is basically an accessory..

I adore Leader Jetfire but I definitely would not buy it at full retail price alone. As a toy, it can only go so far without the combined form to justify its cost. I bit the bullet and purchased both Jetfire and Optimus Prime but my enjoyment of the figures separately and combined justifies the hole in my wallet.
I think that in comparison to Leader Megatron, Leader Jetfire's shortcomings are justified. I don't think I'm going to go for Leader Megatron as I find the Voyager class version more pleasing as an overall toy.
I think the pricing is by size class so since Jetfire is a Leader class toy, he's going to be priced as any other Leader class toy. That's the bottom line from the business PoV, unfortunately.
That being said, I think that Leader OP is the only Leader class toy in the RotF line that is currently worthy of the class. In fact, RotF Leader OP surpasses my expectactions for a "typical" Leader toy. As a stand alone toy with a very close approximation of the movie design as well as an exceptional transformation design, it's the best $50 I've spent on any Transformer so far. Now bear in mind the leap forward from the first iteration of a Leader OP from 2007, which is a great toy as well but it's clear which one is the newer and improved design.
That isn't to say it doesn't have some points that I see as flaws. I would have prefered the RotF Leader OP to have the articulated hands that the 2007 figure had. I'm considering swapping the hands since I've recently gotten a hold of a 2007 Leader OP. The energy blades are an odd choice as I would have liked a single blade and a gun for OP instead of the pair of blades we get currently. It's also a bit of a clumsy gimmick since it doesn't allow full arm extension. I also am puzzled by the single vocal recording for the toy. Considering Leader Animated Megatron has 3 recordings, why does RotF OP have just "I am Optimus Prime."? It's great but I would have liked "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." and "Transform and roll out!" as additional recordings. I'm more letdown by the simple and small corners cut on Leader OP than on Leader Jetfire to be honest. What significant excuse could there be to make any of the mistakes that happened to Leader OP?
Getting back to Jetfire, I would look at it in a similar light to Leader 2007 OP and Leader RotF OP. Should Jetfire get a second chance at a toy design, I'm sure it would be much better. But again, I can't see how a lot of compromise can be avoided when you consider its secondary(well, primary to many) purpose of combining with Leader OP.
I would say that in order to make a vast difference in design, you'd have to have two Jetfires: A non-Leader class toy to serve as a combiner with OP and a Leader class toy to be a stand alone toy, a "proper" Jetfire so to speak. The non-Leader class toy could be an accessory kit like City Commander. That way it could be more movie accurate and could be priced lower than a Leader class toy.
The only other Transformer that I can think of at the moment that is comparable to Jetfire is Energon/Super Link Wing Saber. Wing Saber is basically a brick in robot mode, has a clunky and kibble riddled alt mode, but truly shines as a combiner with Convoy/Optimus Prime. I'm sure one could enjoy Wing Saber fine on its own but really, it does its best work with Optimus.

But that would be even worse and nonsensical than what they did with Devastator!

I will get him, but only in premium paint apps.. cause then I could justify his purchase.. but here is the thing.. ROTF toys have to compete with my 3rd party and classics/Heneki purchases.. and as of right now..Henkei/classics is the clear winner
