Simon Furman has once again updated his Blog, with a plot synopsis of Transformers UK #5.
In the spotlight this issue is Ironhide, who (in common with Ratchet and Jazz) found himself ‘lost in space,’ far from Cybertron (after events in issue #2). While searching for his Autobot comrades, Ironhide runs into Cybertron’s past in a big way. The original ancients who once possessed (and perhaps created) the All Spark have come looking for their lost artefact, and Ironhide either tells them where it is… or he’s in a whole world of pain! Art this issue is by fan-favourite Guido Guidi, making his TF-UK debut.
Transformers UK #5 also comes with a free Transformers Disc Launcher.

Yeah, I picked this issue up today. The Target repaint basics Strongarm, Signal Flare and Skyblast get cameos in the Ironhide story along with a couple of guys called Bumper and Slipstream who form part of the same unit. I can't place the designs for those last two, just wondering (assuming that they are actually based off some existing toys) if anyone khows where these guys have come from. Of course they may just be some made up filler characters but if they were going with the basics why not just add in Armorhide, Clocker or Elita-1?

I'd love to help you out here Waaagh, but the mag does not ship outside the UK... You would think they would at least ship it to the Commonwealth countries who beat you guys in sport (read: everyone)
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

Hi Waaaaghlord,
I pretty much helped Jason out with the strip by doing the colour flats for this issue. When doing this issue, there were no references to Bumper or Slipstream, so I made them up. Bumper I simple based it on Gears as...well he kinda looked like Gears.
Slipstream I just made up, but when working on later pages, his character kinda looked like Beachcomber, but sadly due to the tight deadline I didn't get much of a chance to edit them myself.
Hope this helps?
Regards

Coolio, that's what I was after. Looking again I can see the Gears resemblance, Beachcomber too in the last panel with him where you get a good look at the chest details. Made up characters with a wee bit of homage thrown in, what's not to like?
Furman seems to be slipping though. A couple of redshirts, never seen before, unlikely to ever show up again, and they actually make it through the story!? Where's the OTT body count that you're so famous for Simon?

Website of the month eh? Cool. I'll give Darth a shout, see if that's newsworthy.

That was a good Lost In Space comic. Best one yet, in my opinion. I think Slipstream (The red one, right?) looks like a cross between G1 Jazz and G1 Cliffjumper, because he had what looked like Cliffjumper's vehicular mode, but Jazz's visor. I noticed that it shared something with the G1 series, maybe unintentionally, but it was there.
They all point for no reason. When Strongarm (he is the big cannon truck, isn't he?) is telling Ironhide about the towers, there is Slipstream behind him pointing up at it, but not even saying anything...
One question though, if you look at Wheeljack and Bumblebee's vehicular modes on Cybertron, they both hover. But the alternate forms in the comic are still Earth vehicles. It's not a problem, I'm just curious. Why are they Earth vehicles, albeit alien-like ones? (they still have wheels, where Bumblebee and Wheeljack didn't)
