Cool figure and a great new headsculpt. However, I'm convinced that the ROTF Sideswipe mold would look badass no matter what head was thrown on it.

I picked this guy and Arcee up from Target on Monday--he's really cool looking, but his plastic seems cheaper than Sideswipe's.

Arcee, Stalker Scorponok, and Swerve are the figures that round out Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Wave 5. This red repaint of the Deluxe Sideswipe is in colors that are reminiscent to Sideswipe's G1 counterpart, however the figure is named Swerve to avoid confusion. Kenji from ToysDaily gives us another look at Revenge of the Fallen Swerve.

Swerve is highly intelligent, though you wouldn't know it to watch him drive. His duties as a metallurgist and fabricator for the Autobots expose him to a lot of toxic chemicals, which his circuits have been constantly exposed to for years. He has trouble holding a straight line as a result. The other Autobots prefer to keep him far away from battle, since he aims about as well as he drives

mmm im actually a bit dissapointed.

originally i was gonna hold off on getting the original sideswipe and planned on getting this instead. but after seeing these images... idk

i dont like it as much as i thought.

I wish that when they did redecos they would at least include a new weapon or make it enough of a redesign that it would warrant a purchase. For me a new head sculpt and being red doesn't warrant a purchase. If he where red had the new head and maybe a new chest piece and some kind of weapon added on I would buy him.. but I am not getting him or Dead end for that reason. Now if I had money to throw away then it would be another story.

Having him sitting right behind me on my shelf, I should note the new head causes ONE problem not found on the original. The chin is so long it prevents a lot of side to side movement.

HOWEVER, it is still an awesome figure and an outstanding paint job. If I HAD to choose only one between Sideswipe and Swerve (thank gawd I don't), it'd be Swerve.

I was worried that the red might come off looking worse as more photos came out, but I was thankfully wrong. I really like the Sideswipe mold, so I will very likely purchase this guy on sight. It doesn't hurt that he is a Corvette either, sexiest family of cars to ever hit the planet Earth.

I've never really liked the head mold too much, but what really bugs me is the yellow tail-lights. I realize it's for the sake of contrast, but a different shade of red would've looked way better and more realistic.

Still, I will probably pick this up because I want a "Sideswipe" I can display with my other Sideswipes.

I don't like the head sculpt - I prefer Sideswipe's. The yellow tailights - ugh... I can't help but think this is what 'Swipe should look like - not silver. This may push me to attempt my first ever mod - maybe throw a bright metallic red on 'Swipe to give some G1 flavor, while keeping with 'Swipe's new headsculpt. If all goes well, a new Red Alert won't be far behind. :-D

The more I look at the pics, the more I'm liking Swerve. One big bonus for me is that the paint apps in robot mode are more varied than in Sideswipe, which my little brother has.

RotF Deluxe Sideswipe's arms and torso are the base plastic colours. Its legs are the same except for a section of the upper thighs. From what I can make out, Swerve has painted upper arms, forearm sections, torso, the mech alive knee plate sliders, and upper thigh plates. The black on the legs and arms are base plastic but it has a dull sheen that reins in the shiny red paint of the car parts. My one criticism is that the forelegs are in a base plastic dull grey, which throws the otherwise cohesive visual texture of the robot mode. However, it's a relatively minor issue compared to the other things that RotF seems to do right in terms of paint apps. Once I get one, I'll just paint the forelegs to a silver to match the knee plates.
