Transformers maker HASBRO, Inc. has been listed as posting a 3 percent increase over projected earnings for the third quarter of this year. Sales rose to $1.31 billion, topping the $1.29 billion analysts had expected. Revenue increased 4 percent excluding currency changes.
Sales in the Transformers and GI Joe departments actually dropped by 34 percent, but this was expected as it is a non movie year.
Hasbro expects to post an even larger gain in its fourth quarter heading into the holiday season with the launch of its new childrens network, The Hub, previously reported on here.

If the movie sales make that big of a bump in sales, there is no way that Hasbro is going to let the movie franchise ever die. They've dipped into the pot of gold and realized how much they can make.
However, as I expected, sales of the collector's aimed Generations line was unable to maintain the level of profit for the TF line as some would have you believe. I also have to believe that poor distribution of current figures waves also had something to do with the drop.

It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Man It's really gonna suck once the movie franchise is killed. They'll go back to the same crappy sales. And there'll be nothing for people to be excited for.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

Yeah Hasbro will definitely need another movie. At least one more.
And yes, everyone has been telling me how much Generations would tower over the movies. Of course, most of these people are diehard G1 fans. And of course, it is limited to one class and may not appeal to all, considering we stil have new movie figs now, so not much can be done with it.
And yes, poor distribution is a big factor here. Both the TFs and Iron Man figures have seen sluggish distribution.

Re: HASBRO 3rd QTR earnings 3% above forecast
Funny, I've had very little stock in Hasbro for over 3 years now and have yet to make money. Ever since I've owned Hasbro stock, I've lost money with them...
I hope they do go up because as soon as they do, I'm going to sell the stock and never return to toy stocks.
At least it was just a little bit of play money just to see how good the stocks were.

You are so right regarding the movie business. And the irony is that Bandai figured this out 35 years ago and has been doing the animation/movie angle ever since.

You sure about your numbers? The stock hit an all-time high earlier today, so not sure how you could have lost money since your purchase--especially when you factor in the dividends you should have received over the past three years.
For sale: My entire Transformers and third-party collection. Includes Masterpiece, Generations, Universe, Movie, Prime, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, G1, G2, a few Japanese imports, etc. Many never opened, the rest displayed in enclosed display cases to keep the dust off. A few ads on Craigslist/OfferUp for DC/MD/VA locals, will post on boards or ebay when I have time.
