A new image has been posted on ACToys.net by site member lixinzheku that gives us our first look at an upcoming remold of the ROTF leader class Optimus Prime. It's clearly a more simplified version of the 2009 release of the figure and, thanks to an anonymous tip, we've now confirmed it's because it will be part of Takara Tomy's upcoming exclusive "Jetpower" leader class Optimus Prime set. The original idea for this set was introduced in late 2009 when Takara Tomy revealed plans to introduce a ROTF voyager Prime with seperate Jetfire bits to give him his flight mode-that version, titled "Unite for the Universe" Optimus Prime (also pictured below) was cancelled early last year.

This revised version will feature a similar concept but for this newly molded leader class figure. Still no images of the Jetfire parts or combined mode yet nor do we have a release date confirmed. However, once we find out more, we'll definitely let you know.

EDIT: We've now confirmed this is actually a KO and not the rumored Leader Prime for the exclusive "Jetpower" set.

I don't know about this new Prime, but that Unite for the Universe Prime combo looks WAY better than my leader combo from ROTF. Why is that? ohyea, first post!

I'm thinking because they used Jetfire parts like in the movie instead of an entire Jetfire toy.

This looks really cheap i'm wondering if it really is leader class. Plus I hate how they are omitting the door windows as part of the chest piece.

Is it safe to assume that this figure won't come with Jetfire components like Unite for The Universe? Is there a general consensus that the flight mode featured in the trailers for DoTM is different to the version seen at the end of RoTF?

It's my understanding that this set will be like the ROTF Jetfire combo, not the DOTM "Flying Trailer" Prime. If it's like the original concept, it'll basically be a bunch of wing/jet bits that may form some sort of odd jet trailer to attach onto the Prime in alt mode.

There's no way this is a leader. It looks like the voyager class battle hooks prime, you can see he has gold hooks on his arms.

No way its the Voyager. It IS a modified Leader class. The feet and the arms are dead giveaways.

While the voyager Battle blades had very narrow toes, and panels around the arms due to the truck hood, the Leader class has wide toed feet, and the panels fold and hide behind the arms.

Even though it's a confirmed KO, if someone made a knockoff kit of Jetfire parts like that, that would snap on to my leader Prime for a reasonable price, i would buy it.

Well that's a disappointment, though the weird changes to the chest and leg tires now make sense. KO's tend to over simplify parts like that.

Dude I'm not saying your wrong, because I don't have this figure, However, its either a voyager, or that screw head on the inside of his knee is the LARGEST SCREW EVER USED BY HAS/TAK EVER. I'm just saying.

Dude, that's the wrong figure. The top one in the Original post, which is standing straight and therefor you can't see the inside of his knee, is a Leader class.

The second pic, is of the cancelled set which used yes the 2007 Voyager mold. That mold is indeed a Voyager but that is a different figure to the first picture, and not in contention. That was just a reference pic.
