Well, looks like the QC issues are back (if they ever left)
I just picked up two of WFC Megs and WFC Soundwave.
Usually I can find a figure in store with tight paint application if I look through enough of them, but this time I couldnt find one without heavy QC issues.
So I bought two of each, both with weaknesses and strengths in paint application so that I could take them home and frankenstein two mediocre figs into one beautiful fig. Swapped heads, torsos, arms, legs, all to have a figure that looks like it should rather than a sloppy paint splattered mess.
So although I now have nice neat examples of WFC Megatron and Soundwave, I am less than thrilled about the method I had to employ.
I know that complaining about a little paint splatter seems neurotic, but it bugs the hell out of me to see toys with globs of paint all over them. It is especially aggravating because this was never an issue during G1, BW and most of the Unicron Trilogy.

I've noticed that a lot of people have had issues with paint application on said figures. I must have been damn lucky for a change because mine are perfect.

Yup, paint app carelessness drives me up the wall, especially when it comes to the robot's face and head. It is infuriating to go through one of these new fangled overly complex transformations only to find that your new figure has a totally "over the lines" or scratched up face paint job. Then it's off to the store to exchange the darn thing.
I'm glad that Hasbro has started packaging a lot of figures already in robot mode so we can better see what we are getting. It's a shame that this has become necessary, but until they stop throwing paint at the figures from across the room it will at least help us somewhat in the figure selection process.

I will just keep longing for a sophisticated and financially viable fully automated paint system to come into play.
The sooner we can remove human hands from the paint application process the better.
