But spiders are arachnids-- they kill bugs.

Insects at the widest. Spiders are more comparable to horseshoe crabs.

'Bug' refers specifically to homopterous insects - those with piercing mouthparts.

A spider generally kills 5 insects a day. Just think, if you let it live, more will die than you generally could in a day.
