duh! of course i would! :grin:

but i would keep the box. i almost never keep boxes to TFs, so it has to be very rare for me to keep the box.

I thought about it for a couple minutes when I bought my first Masterpiece......and then when it actually arrived at my house, it literally took a couple SECONDS for me to decide on opening it. These things are awesome, but they are toys. I want to enjoy them. Life is too short not to, IMO.

If I bought or received such a rare Transformers figure as a gift, I'd open it up because I'm not into MISB collecting.

However, if I won a rare figure, especially if it was something like a Lucky Draw figure...I'd be tempted to record myself dropping it into a wood chipper and then upload it on Youtube. I bet I could feel the psychic shockwave of the world's Transformers collectors experience a collective heart attack. Delicious. :twisted:

Depends. I've left SDCC Soundwave, Henkei Ghost Starscream, and Gentei Strafe MISB, but I opened Henkei Dirge, Thrust, Thundercracker, MP Megatron, and plenty more. Basically, most of my MISB stuff is molds I had in at least one (usually more) form/s and had no reason for opening another. Generally speaking, I open any TF immediately upon arriving home, unless, in cases like the aforementioned, I decide to leave it sealed for a while. Most of my MISB stuff is really only MISB because I haven't opened it YET.

I also leave a figure MISB if it is one I already owned and someone bought me another one as a gift without knowing I owned it.

I open all my toys, so yes. Only exceptions being if I have doubles of a figure, and that only happens if people give me gifts. Then I sell them.

I've got a few things still sealed. Not by choice really. I just can't figure out where I want them displayed. The only one I've left sealed on purpose is Jafcon Black Convoy and Beast Wars Beast Primal(red and blue) with Megatron (purple) CD set. I simply can't do it. I have a place for the Jafcon but the display is full at the moment. The others I don't know what to do with. My ehobby Orion Pax and Dion have no home yet either. Long story short, I open everything, especially if there's room. Except that Convoy!

I wouldn't want a Transformer that I couldn't transform, so I would certainly open the box.

I think a week later somebody would find you in more pieces than the chipped figure... :twisted:

Well, yeah, if I had something like a Lucky Draw I wouldn't open it, but then... I wouldn't want to waste my money on that anyway. Who wants a TF you can't open up and transform?

It depends:

If I was given the rare toy MISB and opening it would cost me $100+ vs finding a used one(assuming it's available), I'd sell it, get the used one and use the savings for more TFs!

One example would be MISB G1 Shockwave vs a loose, yet complete G1 Shockwave.

Some people buy MISB because they enjoy looking at a fresh unopened box.
Some people buy MISB because they enjoy playing with a fresh new TF.
Some people buy used or MIB because they enjoy playing with the toy and could care less about the packaging.

Haha yeah, I think there are endless categories. I'm sure someone out there buys new, removes the figure carefully, but when done, puts it back inside, including re-tieing the twist-ties and resealing the tape (which he carefully removed and saved).

I actually had a G1 mint in box superion once...but I was 10 and I opened it...then again it could've been a knockoff, but I don't think it was.
But yes, I'd open it, because I actually like to play with them, not stare at it. Toys are meant to be played with, of course I'd take really good care of it though.

I think that the only really rare TF I own is a Toy's Dream Project exclusive Galaxy Force Logos Prime(a.k.a. Soundblaster).I found one and only one on ebay and bought it for 80$ if my memory serves me right.Of course this is not the most expensive in my collection but it's very hard to find.So I decided to.......OPEN IT!
I find no meaning in keeping toys in their boxes,no matter how rare they are.
I wouldn't keep MISB not even a TF toy limited in only one piece.

Would You Open Rare, Hard To Find TransFormers?

If it was a lucky draw, golden, whatever color chromed version: No.

Anything else: Have, do, and will continue to open them suckers up. Not only do I do this, I even throw out the packaging unless I absolutely feel a need to keep it.

RID's a perfect example.

If you collect just one of each mold from the show itself (no repaints, no line only figures such as Megabolt Megatron, Jetfire, or Bruticus, and no remolds either, just the original cast before their upgrades...)

You'll have about 30-32 figures, and most of them come packed as a set, so that's not a lot of boxes, really. Heck, I was able to take all of their packaging and fit it into a large garbage bag (which is currently in the storage room...)

I kept their packaging due to size and general rarity (on some, such as the trains), but generally, I toss 'em as I get 'em.

ROTF Devastator, Dirge, and Bludgeon all lost their boxes/card within two days.

I'm all about the toys themselves.

Another rare instance where I kept the packaging was for the Power Rangers RPM line. 11 figures, 13 Zords, 6 roleplays...not a lot of packaging. (Although, this also has to do with the fact that since it's effectively the last ever NEW Power Rangers line, and didn't receive wide distribution, it's definitely RARE and extremely hard to come by.)

Alright so we all march to the beat of our own drum. After seeing most of what those Lucky Draws look like most look lame. So like someone had mentioned earlier I would probably sell mine too. BUT...depending on the item for example I would have to get a second and keep the other sealed. If it's a G1 sealed there no way it's getting out. I know it's crazy huh? And if I do keep a box or package it would have to be G1 or import only, no re-issues. Anything else then I gotta have a second cuz keeping the box just takes up space. There really is a certain feeling I get when worshiping those rare and unopened pieces....ahhhhh yeah!! B-)
