I'd have to disagree. The figure is really nice, even with the chin so many people seem to hate. But I think it adds character.

You and me both. I would love to see a Skywarp come from this mold (with a different head sculpt of course). That would be very nice indeed.

Those dismissing the animated toys as the end of TF are overlooking the fact that it seems theres been a very big reversal of opinion regarding the animation and to a greater degree the toys themselves.
Compared to the movie and cybertron toys which i think are equally dull (well actually the movie line is the duller of the two) these are decidedly funky, they arent the definitive TF we want (thats for universe) but they at least seem to raise smiles from those who see them, a movie or cybertron toy has NEVER made me automatically smile, the animation toys do, weird but true. I know a circle of toy junkies in their mid 30's- early 40's who collect several takara lines from the early 70's onwards, they have barely touched TF but animated has them all interested amazingly enough.

id say that its what these toys lack that makes them a winner, they have a clever minimal design which is the anthithesis of the movie toys.
its evil care bear that pilots SS.
Im really glad these toys are upcoming as it allows me to ignore the movie line totally. If it wasnt for knowing that arguably superior toys were around the corner id be perusing the movie line toys wanting to like then and probably buying one or two that i felt were ok (and i have bought one or two i feel are decent, like target repaint jazz).

...Maybe not.

Tekka wrote:Lol. Was there ever an evil care bear? And how did it hook up with Starscream? That idea is just crazy enough to work in the show.
...Maybe not.
haha, i dont think so but if there is one hed have another care bears heart sutured across his chest!!

Nahh Grumpy was a Gummi Bear wasn't he?
That jet looks pretty good, if a bit blue. Wonder how it suffers in the usual jet underhanging kibble stakes?
Still not sold on the Bot mode though.

I haven't seen the series yet. He's piloted by a care bear?

I like the toy from what I've seen so far. I think Hasbro will do the same thing with this Starscream that they did with the movie one. G1 head and color scheme for the repaint, and the win. Then all the haters will be like, "OMG, this is the best, most kick-ass Starscream ever! I must have it!"
Posted by City Commander on January 7th, 2008 @ 11:29am CST
I like this Starscream. He looks neat. I can get used to him being dressed as TC too. It's just those awlful reverse wings that make my eyes bleed!

I admit that my first thoughts on the new line were negitive and after watching the first episode i'm still not that positive about the "Transformers Animated" series it's self, however from the toy designs we've seen, i will gladly pick up a few regardless of the show. Starscream will be one I'll be looking for and I think it will look great on the shelf with the other Starscreams, Seekers, and various other Deceptijets from the different lines.
Just because the current release at anytime may not be to your liking, never say never. I personally can't stand the recent Real Gear line, but I still bought Booster x10 for the Laserbeak connection. Spouting off that the franchise is dead only cheapens the fan experience, and at worse makes you a hypocrite if you buy anything from that line.

It's kinda the law round these parts

It reminds me of my grandparents dissing everything modern for the "good old days".

A couple figures from this line look okay, but its starting to remind me much of going from RID to Armada. They gradually got more detailed and articulated since G1 then took this giant leap backwards with poorly made toys, on the other hand Armada had better designs than these horrible things.

For the most part I have to agree, Animated is leaving a worst taste in my mouth than a 2 day old beer with 3 half smoked cigarettes in it(dam party foulers)
Starscream however I have to say I'm looking forward to since I already got a broken Energon DreadWing and I'm gonna and swap heads. One way or another I'll make it fit.
But beyond that, Animated just plain sucks noodles!

wanna know what really RUINED TRANSFORMERS FOREVER? those dang TFTM-n00bs, i tell ya, with all their scalping and hoarding and praising the merits of Blackout and stuff like that. fueled by hype they tore down store aisles and eBay like a Kansas tornado, leaving collectors and kids without some piece of the action. never happened in such a scale with RID, AEC.
now with the Animated designs pissing people off, i sure do hope most of them are those who started in the TFTM franchise; this way, with many not buying these stuff, there'll be more for us collectors, and the dreaded "BB-08gate" scalping nightmare scenario won't ever happen again.

Not to mention the S-47s... http://swisshornet.bleublog.ch/files/images/2006/4/mob198_1145738837.jpg
I think this is still a prototype, honestly, just put in a box. They are always talking about how this is going to be so show accurate, so something like the coloring wouldn't be too hard to match. It's nowhere near the shades seen right next to him on the box, so I'm not really worried. I still can't wait to get him!
Posted by Omega Charge on January 7th, 2008 @ 5:54pm CST
this is just a concept not an actual jet as of right now...

The first time I saw deluxe packaging I was dissapointed but after a few close-up views, I was quite impressed.
Then again, I rarely like Voyager Packaging in the first place. Though movie packaging for Voyagers was awesome.
I wish Hasbro would change the deco of the boxes. Red, white and blue is fine for Autobots but 'd rather have some Black, blue and purple packaging.

Let's get serious here, this is not a matter of being an obsess collector, that you must buy what every garbage is thrown on the wall, this is a matter of good taste, a matter of keeping things on the positive side of the graph, I have seen some many complains all over many websites, that I have no clue if something like this happened in past, where, fans, get so divided... I mean TF's fans, quite interesting position.
Again not a matter of buying just because, buy it if you really like the ugliest toy TF's toy line so far, well at least Hasbro got a "top of the line" series... of course on the dark side of the forge... not even force
