Big Convoy with Matrix Buster Seen at Tokyo Wonderfest

Tokyo Wonderfest has shown us some terrific reveals (unless you are Studio Series fan) but, as a wise man once said, there is another. On the show floor, next to the exclusive reissues/redecos like the upcoming G1 Prime and Legendary Nemesis Convoy, there was Big Convoy again (the mammoth) with a giant cannon. This humongous weapon is a very new accessory and is called the Matrix Buster. This weapon was famously used in the final battle of the cartoon. The Big convoy figure there is not the recent Encore reissue though, so this might be a prototype. Or not, who knows. We do also have a small Navi figure which looks rather finished. It is unknown right now exactly what this release entails then, and how we will get these new accessories.

Eagerly curious about those NAVI and Matrix Buster accessories for Big Convoy (which, more curiously, is the original figure rather than the Encore).

The accessory is very cool, and I kinda want one for my Siege weaponry.

Are the parts where the pipes plug into new then? It is curious why they didn't use the encore version mind

The product is not finished, as written in the japanese text, so they probably just used a toy they had to modify and show for display.

According to a mutual on Twitter who was able to read the Japanese and the information:

it's in 参考出品 state, meaning nothing is confirmed. It's more of an idea pitch than a preview really... There's a good chance that this might never even get released unfortunately. Hope they decide to release it though!

So it occurred to me that the tubes connect to the little gattling guns on the waist piece... so it's "not new" after scrutinizing it. Now... I could see them possibly testing the idea for an MP release, and just happen to be using the original mold to not "tip their hand"?

I wish it was a tease for an MP. But the funny thing is, the new MP Lio convoy and MP Primal are perfectly in scale with the original Big Convoy, so I'm not sure if we will get an MP of him, especially since he did just get his encore

Yeah and besides that, what is there to improve upon the original when it is already a pretty dynamic mold as is?

While we saw what was thought to be a prototype at Tokyo Wonderfest, Takara Tomy Mall now has a preorder for the Matrix Buster edition Big Convoy reissue. and it is unchanged from what we saw on the show floor with it being a reissue of the original toy with his giant gun. This humongous weapon is a very new accessory and is called the Matrix Buster. This weapon was famously used in the final battle of the cartoon. He also comes with a small Navi figure.

In Japan, this release will only be available through the Takara Tomy Mall site for 9,720 Yen (around he $90 USD price point) since it is their exclusive. It will surely be available outside of Japan for international customers and we will update you when that happens but at least now you know what you'd be paying for it. It is to be released at the end of February.

I don't remember my Black Big Convoy doing that...

Think Takara's trying to get the total number of Big Convoy reissues up to Lio Convoy's number of repaints before he gets a Masterpiece toy too?

Dunno about Big Convoy getting a MP, as the Encore and this other reissue were both done to celebrate 20th anniversary of Beast Wars Neo, while Lio Convoy's MP is part of the whole brand's 35th anniversary.

Plus, the original Big Convoy mold is already perfectly in scale with both the Optimus Primal and Lio Convoy MP molds.

Well, I guess for the 2nd year in a row I will be getting a Big convoy in february/March. And I am OK with that, that is an awesome Matrix Buster!
