No, well kinda. He was a plane and a tank that combined into one large bot that could also turn into a base.
I'm liking this, I hope HR will make a set for this, with Powermasters and replacements for the bendy swords.

they got the toy colors spot on in my opinion.

Having said that, this is still a solid figure. If they could swap out the katana and wakizashi with a more western sword and dagger, it would look a lot better.

Except the Bludgeon mold only appeared in the comics, and more importantly is not a licensed vehicle. The likes of Mindwipe and Lockdown, who were re-released in a main line (meaning non-movie which the 2010 line was generally speaking), are fair game.

Now I'm wondering if ROTF Jetfire is a candidate for the second unit (I know it was female, but look at Galaxy Force/Cybertron Override)
Still, even though my parents gave me permission to go down to Texas I decided to not, as I've none of the other SG toys

Too big, licensed vehicle and we're only getting the tank for Gigatron. It's 6 figures, not 7

What are you saying? Gigatron was supposed to be a plane? Or Bludgeon was supposed to be released as a blue and white plane?

Megatron used to be a gun. But he's also been a plane, a tank, a truck, a dinosaur, and more.
This is Gigatron (the tank component of Overlord), not Megatron.

Maybe this will inspire a 3rd Party company to do an updated Overlord right Since Hasbro doesn't want to.

Forgot, sorry! I'm thinking the Metalhawk could be a remold of Scourge (and yes I know all the hubbub about him being either Leozack or Ratbat)
Posted by Skullcrunchberries on December 27th, 2011 @ 2:15pm CST
Beyond that though, I'm pretty happy with the choice. Now if only they could do some kind of partner for him out of the Universe 2.0 Silverbolt mold to accomodate Overlord's plane half...

Any non-licensed vehicle mode is fair game.

I don't like this enough to pay up to $75 to $100+ for this. then have to pay another $8 to $10 in shipping fees.
Anyways from my personal opinnion this looks horrible. masterforce overlord was a duo-con with 2 alt modes. to select only one of overlord's alt modes & turn it into a robot is kinda lacking.
no thanks,i don't like paying 5 times over retail prices for repaints. If I gotta shell out this big money, then it better be a 3rd party 100% new mold.

With regards to the figure, Overlord was going to be the deal maker on this set and having now seen it I'm pleased to say I'm out! Quite a cheap and lazy attempt in my opinion.

Flux Convoy wrote:The colors and homage to the tank mode really look nice. The head looks good too. Not real tickled with the bot mode. It isn't terrible and I can't think of a more fitting mold to use really. It is a bit more samurai looking than I would have hoped though, for this character at least. I'd be interested if Headrobots came along and produced a new chest piece and weapons. Their blood kit did wonders for Bludgeon IMO.
thus far no 3rd party company has made powermasters/godmasters/chest pieces because it's impossible to find spots on the liscensed TF bigger toy to accomodate room for a engine in alt mode & in robot mode.
to create a 3rd party powermaster, they'd have to be a port connecting system on the 3rd party power master. and some kind of connecting port on the liscensed bigger TF toy.
at best some AEC toys with minicon ports created by hasbro might be able to accomodate a 3rd party powermaster accessory.
sadly i read a few threads here in the past month. that these 3rd party companies are not willing to copy any minicon styled ports because hasbro/takara might sue them for stealing & using their minicon port designs.
i don't think these 3rd party companies would create new bigger robot parts like a hollow engine cavity, new bigger robot chest hollow engine cavity or port system. at best i think the budget of some of these 3rd party companies are only willing to create the powermaster/godmaster & that's it.

Just to add to this, also any movie verse toy that didn;t appear in the movie "might" be fair game & can be used as a botcon convention/club toy.

no, you didn't. I speculated that this might be why no 3rd party products have used the system. I have no actual knowledge of either copyright law, or the various 3rd party toy companies decision processes.
