Posted by Blurrz Apr 28, 2012 at 8:50pm CDT 37,800 views
At tonight's Hall Of Fame Dinner at BotCon 2012 in Dallas, TX, we found out which one of the five nominees were picked as the winner. The five nominees were

  • Beast Wars Megatron
  • Wheeljack
  • Rodimus
  • Arcee
  • Sky-byte

Through trials and tribulations, the winner was announced to be Wheeljack! A prominent figure ever since the insertion of Transformers back in 1984, Wheeljack has been featured in a multitude of different Transformers universes and toylines throughout the years!

First character to speak in G1... rather crazy cool... I'm okay with this.

I never realised how much Generations Wheeljack resembled G1 and I'm reminded why I can't justify the cost of collecting G1s.

Well, my vote was for BW Megatron... but, it's logical that Wheeljack snagged it, since technically he had the honor of being the very first Transformer to appear on the show that started the near-30-year-shenanigans.

I voted for Beast Wars Megatron, but Wheeljack is definitely an OK choice with me.

He's a decent character, both in his original G1 form, as well as his new role in Prime as TFP's version of Beast Wars Depth Charge.

I just hope that when Beast Wars Megs does get in (as I'm certain he likely will, being the best Megatron ever), that David Kaye is on hand to accept the award. That shouldn't be too tough, as I believe he attends a lot of cons these days :).

While I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get a Beast Wars hat-trick, Wheeljack was the second best choice. I'm glad "Rodimus" didn't win because he deserves to be inducted as Rodimus PRIME, the true chosen one who was just bumping that placeholder Optimus out of the way in accordance with Primus's grand plan so that he could lead the Autobots to victory. Just 'cuz they can't trademark "Hot Rod" is no excuse.

But much, much, MUCH more importantly, Arcee didn't win. For one thing, they'd surely have lumped the pictured G1 Arcee together with the current TF Prime Arcee, despite their being as completely different characters as G1 and BW Megatron no matter how you slice it, deserving to be inducted separately.

And since no Fembot has been inducted yet, that leaves the door open for Blackarachnia to be first at BotCon 2013. Not only was she a much more complex character, even if you don't lump her Animated counterpart together with her BW self, but the first female TF being a Beast Wars character would send a powerful message to anyone at Hasbro determined to leave that neck of the franchise "retired" or what not.

Yay my vote counted! :D

I for one, am happy. Wheeljack was my favorite G1 that wasn't voiced by Welker or Cullen.

Didn't see that coming, but then again the HoF winners never seem to be the expected ones.

Not my first or second choice (Sky-Byte and Megaton, respectively), but Wheeljack is a well-deserved addition. :APPLAUSE:
(here's hoping the two Preds get auto-inducted next year)

Joygasm...good deal. Make no mistake, I agree that all of the different series and toylines should be honored in the next decade but lets honor those who started it all and lets face it, when it comes to TV, Wheeljack literaly DID start it all...first line.
You know honestly it seems like the botcon 2011 inductions were leapfrogged into the HOF (Michael Bay etc) because of the whole correlation with the southern california entertainment industry and the DOTM release timing of it all, 2012's awards seem to be pcking up where 2010 left off with the begining of the Hall of Fame ceremony. I'm also relieved to see some postumeous award shout outs to those that have left us over the interviening decades...Chris Latta (Starscream) for example...I'd like to see Scatman Crothers mentioned next year...great Botcon this year, Seibertron staff have been working their asses off and staying on top of things, and yet still all the while taking the time to make each individual from our forum here (and other forums as well) feel welcome!

This is one great fan community to be a part of!

Quoted for awesome. Even if it was sarcastic.

As for the winner, I'm disappoint. :( It would have been nice if Arcee or Beast Megatron won. The only distinctions Wheeljack can claim are he was the first character to appear and speak in the G1 cartoon and he created the Dinobots. Otherwise, totally worthless.
