The Tokyo Toy Show is in full swing this weekend, and fresh out of the show comes our first look at the colored version of Masterpiece Beast Wars Megatron!

These new images, courtesy of Twitter users ???????????? and ??????/????, show us 2 different types of images. The first shows a promotional shot of Megatron in full color firing a blast from his Dino head in robot mode. This shows us that we will be getting blast effects, much like we are with Masterpiece Dinobot, and that his T-Rex head will be equipped with lights.

The 2nd set of images shows us Masterpiece Megatron on full display at the show, and included in his group shot are copies of Masterpiece Dinobot and Optimus Primal! No Pussycat though, boo! He is a glorious mirror image of his on-screen appearance.

That's how I felt the second I saw those pictures. It looked incredible without colors, but now, it looks downright amazing! Has to be one of the top things to be excited for.

Also a quick thing for people to note. Given Megatron's overall size. In terms of scale, if HasTak do move onto Season 2 aka Transmetals, this would be about what you'd be looking at...

Having seen all the different masterpiece figures over the years, I have to say this: Beast Wars Megatron, in my opinion, is the best looking Masterpiece figure Takara and Hasbro have ever done.

That thing is gorgeous on every level

Although, given we will soon have MP Dinobot, BW Grimlock is just a simple redeco of him. So a reuse of a mold does have a better chance of appearing first.

True. But I don't think they would turn down reusing a mold. Beast Wars doesn't really have as extensive a back catalogue of palette swaps as Generation One. Some of them will only be a one to two use mold, so I doubt the opportunity would be passed up. Likewise I foresee Laserbeak and possibly Fractyl being releases after Terrorsaur.

Airazor is probably the only character I can think of, that didn't have any redecos at all :???:

Well, there IS a Shattered Glass MP-10, G2 Sideswipe, G2 Bee, MP-8X (comic) Grimlock. They had no significance to Takara, so you never know.

I'm in love.

And RE: the backpack conversation.

His backpack is the sides of the dino AND the sternum. The original toy had three flaps: two sides and the chest, which hung down on the back kind of out of sight. They ditched that for the show and significantly shrank the wings, so they've had to do a lot of folding and compressing to match that here. Why is this a surprise?

If they do an MP Waspinator, they have to have his limbs be ball-jointed. That way, we can replicate his usual state in the show. :lol:

Wow, this guy is looking awesome. It makes me hopeful for some Masterpiece Armada figures in the future, given how much they are nailing the aesthetics!
