Minimates are Still a Thing and now Feature Transformers Characters

Anyone remember 2002? A time when Nickleback was a beloved band? That's when Art Asylum came out with their Minimates line. For those who were not even walking then, those were basically articulated lego minifigs and were a collector product nestled in a similar market to today's Funko Pops. Well, here's some news, they are still a thing. Also, almost 20 years later, they now have the Transformers license. The first ones to list the online were BBTS and we see that the first set comes with Bumblebee, Shockwave, Starscream and Optimus as their g1 selves. The four pack is being sold for $30.

Did Op just lose his left antenna tip in an editing snafu?

I do, sort of, almost remember Minimates fondly; got a few Marvel figs.

And Shockwave's giraffe neck makes him look genuinely interesting...that's it, it reminds me of when the Micromasters decapitated and puppeteered him in their miniseries!

Never saw the appeal of these. They're too complicated and detailed to be cute and too deformed to work as good representations of the characters they're supposed to be. Plus kinda ugly.

Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 has a review for the newly released Transformers Minimates, so you can check it out below if you were curious about these.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:I'll admit, I'm new to Minimates so some of the charm and intricacies of the figures might escape me. I have to admit though, these are really nice-looking figures, the paint is top-notch, far better than other Minimates figures I've seen. Articulation is surprisingly good for something so small, be careful if you possess sausage fingers like me; manipulating the limbs might be a touch difficult. One glaring negative is the price, at close to $30 for a pack of four you might have a hard time seeing the value. Overall I quite like these, if you're looking for something new and different, as different as a 20-year-old line can be, you might enjoy these little guys.
