We have our very first look at the upcoming Generations Selects Sandstorm. This is a redeco of Kingdom Scorponok based on a redeco of the original Beast Wars toy. It has a new headsculpt too based on the original toy's mutant head. However, the character in the fiction was never shown with that mutant head but with the toy head instead (see image below). It still gives us further distinction between the two releases of the mold. This is said not to be an exclusive and available at multiple places online eventually. Below are a mix of images of the same toy, some coming from a review of Kickback from Chefatron.

I want to hate it because the mold sucks, but the colors are kinda neat. Not a color palette you see if see often on TF toys

Honestly, the scorpion mode creeped me out a bit upon first view. But this color scheme actually fits the character better.

Safety orange.

Erh...

I'm not sure about that Sandstorm.

The plastic colors are close enough (pending image lighting), but I'm not that thrilled with the orange/tan paint they used. I know, it's "sand" but they could have gone without.

Nothing.
This doesn't do any favors to the original.

Safety orange is a truly ugly color on a transformer. Especially the beasts.

I'm liking the colors, just not liking having to buy much needed third party stuff to make the figure look good

As an aside, it does give hope to Sandstorm being a redeco of the (eventual) MP Scorponok. Given there doesn't seem to be an issue with him being based on the show model, as opposed to the proportions of the original figure ala the Second/Neo Dinobot redecos/retools.

Beg to differ, safety orange looks great on the original Sandstorm.

Yeah, it's most likely because Scorponok was a show character that his mold was used for Sandstorm, since using molds of show characters enabled Mainframe to make their box art.

Greetings. If this is redundant, my apologies, I don't seem to remember however seeing a Lift Ticket review yet. Apparently some UK online stores are shipping him to customers in Europe.

I found Toys R Russ a few months back. I like his videos because they are pretty simple. Also he has a TON of Japanese, and other international/rare original TF variants.

Sandstorm looks pretty neat. I like how these repaints are using the alternate mutant heads, or toy or robot mode heads if the mutant head was used first. Really makes me wonder why Nemesis Primal didn't get the awesome mutant mask of the Primal design.

Considering how many redecos the original Primal had. The Mutant Mask might be the head sculpt of a future release. Selects Apelinq, for example.

I'd be down for a mutant mask Primal. But make it a completely different deco than black. Like pure white for a nice yeti.

Mutant mask or not (and I don't think it will have the mask) Burning Convoy is a sureshot from Takara.

Would they pair it with a re release of Legends LioConvoy (whihc itself was a retool of TR Alpha Trion) as Flash LioConvoy, or is there a possibility of a New LioConvoy in the works? (aside form the new model kit just revealed, or the already released MP)

That's Arcee, BotCon 2001. The box even has a little light-sensitive speaker with voice clips from Susan Blu, her original voice actress as well the Beast Wars voice director.

Didn't get scorponok but I'll likely get Sandstorm. Loving the colors and headsculpt, and it's hard to pass on getting some more obscure BW characters, especially predacons.

A new apelinq at some point would be great
Probably won't happen but I hope they pull an agent Ravage on Voyager tigatron to give us a Wreckers Tigatron. That'd be pretty cool

I'd rather see us get a TM Optimus Primal before they worry about doing an Apelinq repaint. I have the Cybertron/anniversary body version from Botcon and it just doesn't feel like the iconic one.

I would like to see a Tigatron repaint of Agent Ravage, even if it does screw with his size.

I'd also like to see Voyager Tigatron done as Under-3/Unit-3, that mold would look good in black with orange stripes.

With all the toy shows canceled, I would expect very soon probably another round of TF Tuesday Selects reveals. I mean three leaked figures have full reviews online (Buzzsaw, BW Sandstorm, and Nightprowler) Plus leaked images of "SG Ironhide" (Black), and "SG Bluestreak" (Blue).

That is enough for five weeks right there, similar to what Hasbro did in Summer of 2020, with even more reveals in-between the weeks were not TF Tuesdays. IN total I think eight or nine selects toys were officially revealed and made available to pre-order in that 5 week span alone.

Although there were technically only three selects released in 2021, if you throw SG in there, that adds a five more as well.

Only issue with this: currently, as far as we know, the black Ironhide is the only of the figures you've mentioned that is confirmed as a Selects figure. Silverstreak/Blue Bluestreak is supposedly a Target exclusive and we don't know the exact deal with the Beast Wars guys.

Also 2021 had 5 Selects: Deep Cover, G2 Ramjet, Transmutate, Artfire, & Toy Galvatron/Galvatron 2/whatever we're calling him.

He shares the same deco as SG Ironhide, but doesn't have the "Evil Autobot" insignia, so technically no... However I think it would be kind of a poor decision on Hasbro's part to release the same exact toy (same paint and everything), and just swap out the insignia. So it's basically whatever you want it to be ;) .

I know more SG is supposedly coming, I'm mot sure if Ironhide was supposed to be one of them.

I guess Hasbro figured the name "Ironhide Protect Black" might be problematic, and since it technically wasn't SG, they went with DK-2 (which I just found out was the name that Diaclone gave this toy when it was sold directly as Diaclone in the U.S. in 1983 before Hasbro licensed it for Transformers).

In fact, come to think of it, that may be something I've never seen before... I've seen some rare MIB Diaclone toys, but always in Japanese packaging, I've never seen any of the super rare North American releases with English packaging... :-?

Ooh, glad to see a nice just-cause Selects reveal (nice prediction o.supreme). I'm still not certain I want this figure or not, but it looks solid. Interesting that it's full name is DK-2 Guard, I wonder if that means the Trailbreaker repaint will actually have a real boy name and not just DK-3.

Interesting that he's $2 more than what Hasbro currently considers to be regular Deluxe price, I guess that confirms all the speculation that the ER Ironhide/Ratchet tooling exists between size classes.

o.supreme wrote:I know more SG is supposedly coming, I'm mot sure if Ironhide was supposed to be one of them.
The SG figures in the pipeline that we know of are supposed to be Wheeljack, Soundwave, Blaster, & Magnus.

Unfortunately I don't think there was any other release of "Blue Trailbreaker" by Takara under any other name than DK-3, but it will interesting to see what Hasbro come sup with.

Lift Ticket is the Red / Yellow repaint from Hoist.

DK-3 is the Blue repaint from Trailbreaker, separate from Lift Ticket.

DK-3 marks the completion of the DK / Diakrone Takara Diaclone tri-fecta. With Red Sunstreaker a.k.a Spin-Out a.k.a Dk-1 and Black Ironhide a.k.a Dk-2.

Speculation (and hope I guess) is that this is related to the ER Ironhide/Ratchet mold using too much mass/parts to fit in a regular deluxe price point.

Interesting that Legacy Selects are all getting unique boxes with character line art on them (yet still get their names on stickers). The first three shown, Black Zarak, Lift Ticket and Guard aren't even boxes they can reuse later. I wonder if with the inner box having to be unique now that they aren't using plastic trays that maybe they're punching out both the inner and outer box at the same time leaving more room for customizing the art.

Ordered mine off BBTS, it's the exact same price as on Pulse rather than them adding a buck or two as they often do over the Pulse price and now I don't have to pay $7 for shipping or scramble to find something to add for free shipping.

Also the boxes themselves are smaller. In the below link the reviewer compares Legacy Selects Lift Ticket to a previous Selects Deluxe box, and it is smaller:

https://youtu.be/0QVb45t6BNs

This makes sense considering the effects packs for the last 2 years (Centurion Drone and Tricraneous) both came in the same size deluxe box than all the others but still managed to pack in the extra box of parts.

I know a few people have Black Zarak in other countries, but I haven't seen anyone compare the box size to other Titan Boxes I am curious to see if it is any smaller.

We've seen images of these toys already but this is out best look yet at two upcoming Generations Selects figures, Nightprowler and Buzzsaw. Both of these toys have aspects that callback to their portrayals. While the original Waspinator mold had both a mutant and robot face, Waspinator was always shown with his mutant face while Buzzsaw's art always had him with his robot face, hence why this toy has a new head. As for Nightprowler, he was originally supposed to show up in the Universe line, which had Autobots vs Decepticons, even though the line was rereleasing molds from the Beast Wars era. So, this release of Nightprowler is also an Autobot rather than a Maximal.
These images come to us from a Chefatron review.
