So one wonders, has Wheeljack really become a big seller? Do you still see One Step Wheeljacks in your stores? Do you see the different packaging versions on pegs at the same time gathering dust? Or does he indeed sell like hot cakes? I bring this up because Wheeljack is also getting similar attention in lines that do target fans along with kids. He was in Earhtrise, Kingdom, Netflix line (with a slight deco change) and will be reissued in Legacy as well. So in every package change ever since he was released. Do you see that toy on shelves? Or is he sold out as well? Just something I wanted to point out and ask while letting you see what's coming next in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line for kids.

I really dig my new BBM Wheeljack...but if Hasbro really loves him that much, bring the Bayverse Wheeljack back to the SS line

Its getting to that level with the generations figure too I think. First in Earthrise, then Kingdom, and now rumored to be in Legacy again. Hopefully this means Que (DotM Wheelack) is coming soon to boost the ranks.

Maybe the stores are just sending back all the Wheeljack figures that didn't sell. And Hasbro is repackaging them and sending them back again

We know that's not the case since Hasbro does not buy back stock from retailers. That's why Transformers can end up on liquidation.
There was a Netflix release of that Wheeljack as well.

I see one of two possibilities.
1. Hasbro accidentally produced too many of this mold and are trying desperately to get rid of them any way they can.
2. They decided that simply repainting a G1 themed figure was too expensive and decided to see just how stuck in a rut Geewunners are by trying to release the same beloved character in multiple packages designed to make you think it is something different....you know, like a repaint but without the repaint. Hell it isn't even a different character like the Seekers are. They just repackaged him. Now they sit back and watch and the Geewunners, in their clamoring for anything G1-related, beat each other up to find the different packaging while Hasbro execs sit on the pile of money they conned them out of. It's like releasing a new G1-themed character without having to do any retool or redesign, but counting on the name WHEELJACK and Geewunners to make money without any effort on their part.

You know, I bet this mold would sell more like hotcakes if it were in Slicer colors.

You know what would be funny? If in a cheesy attempt to boost sales they used stickers to relabel the boxes for the Buzzworthy release as Energon Downshift

Or it simply sells to patents/kids, the targeted audience. As the articke asks, do you see all these different packages of the same figure at the same time on shelves? If not, then it means they sell.

Actually, yes I DO see them all on the shelves at the same time (when I actually see anything on the shelf at all...). And that is disturbing.

Sorry, I don't get what you mean by what you wrote in parentheses. So there are empty shelves and then when they are restocked you see wheeljacks from lines that are both recent and from 2 years ago?

Yeah, on occasion. It's as if new stock came in, but they still are trying to get rid of the old stock at the same time and it's the same guy. I think the stockers just assume there is something different in the figures.

There haven't been so many Wheeljack figures near my realm. Here's a snapshot of what my minions have been seeing, at least in the Walmarts they trawl at my command:
A whole mess of 'vintage' Beast Wars figures: Optimus Primals, Scorponoks, Tigatrons.
Some straggling Kingdom figures: Tigatron, a lot of unsold Wave 2 deluxes (Huffer, Arcee, Airazor), about 10 copies of Beast Megatron that nobody seems to want, a few Core figures.
Some Studio Series figures: Mostly 4-5 copies of Sweep, a couple Hot Rods, mostly unsold copies of Blurr and Kup. A large clutch of the new SS Core figures, all Ravage and Shockwave.
A few figures from Cyberverse, but mostly just the larger Optimus figures that haven't sold, and a few copies of Warrior Starscream, and a couple Arcees.
No Legacy figures have turned up yet at all, and they haven't seen any of these multiple Wheeljack figures.

Well, Buzzworthy Bumblebee is a Target-exclusive line, so these new Buzzworthy releases of 1-Step Wheeljack wouldn't be at Walmart anyway.DeathReviews wrote:There haven't been so many Wheeljack figures near my realm. I scored Silverstreak this afternoon about an hour ago...
4 on the pegs, which was kind of nice because I snagged the one with the best paint apps.
As I just said in the Toy Haul thread, I feel like if I'm finding these in KCMO, they are probably just about everywhere now.

Hasbro might not buy back stock of Transformers but they had to buy GI Joes back from Walmart after ROC because the figures didn't sell if they didn't Walmart was going to drop GI Joe if not all of Hasbro's lines at retail.
I don't think re-releasing one-steps have to do with the characters, but keeping the bucks/molds in circulation. I'd like to think I have a fairly robust collection of one-step figures and one thing I can tell you is the same basic molds/bucks get used over and over, remember those butterfly knife transformation figures? Wheeljack is a new mold that I'm surprised hasn't been reused yet, Hasbro is probably re-releasing the figure to squeeze what they can out of the tooling.

I have no way to know whether you're right or wrong, so I'm gonna assume you're right.
It's still weird that Wheeljack is being re-released across two lines ad nauseum (and I like Wheeljack) with yet another new figure (Studio Series) on the pegs.

It's almost like the more people keep clamoring for a proper "Siege Wheeljack" that turns into his cartoon boxy altmode, the more Hasbro keeps hearing just "Wheeljack" and thus responds accordingly.

Also in terms of reusing molds/keeping molds in circulation though, there is supposed to be Shattered Glass Wheeljack this year, and every SG figure that came out last year also had that mold used/reused elsewhere that year, so maybe there's some correlation there with the Legacy one? Who knows.

I think someone already posited this in a different thread when the Legacy Wheeljack repack first came up (otherwise I read it somewhere else and don't remember where), but I think/agree with the theory that the sudden influx in Wheeljacks may have had something to do with the fact that there was supposed to be a movie releasing this year with Wheeljack as a primary cast member, and they may have been banking on the name recognition from the movie helping to sell non-movie Jackies or just wanted brand synergy (plus the BB packaging has art of Arcee and Mirage on it now for seemingly no reason, who are ALSO supposed to be in that movie).sol magnus wrote:chuckdawg1999 wrote:Hasbro might not buy back stock of Transformers but they had to buy GI Joes back from Walmart after ROC because the figures didn't sell if they didn't Walmart was going to drop GI Joe if not all of Hasbro's lines at retail.
