One of the more intriguing comments is made when asked about the size of the components and which size class they would be:
Mike B wrote:Last was the upper torso and lower torso. We actually thought of two options for this. (1) Scavenger being a Commander scale figure and Overload a Voyager or (2) Scavenger a Leader scale and Overload a Leader scale. We decided to proceed with option 2 of both Leader scales to fit in our existing scales, but more importantly for strength and stability. Having the lower torso as a Leader scale with more mass helped to improve the stability of Devastator.
This shows us that while Commander class has so far been only for WfC toys (Siege Jetfire and Earthrise Sky Lynx), we could still yet see the sizing in other lines.
Through out the blog is various pictures showing the design work that went into Devastator, but they served the best pictures and comments till last.

I really think this ^ is the reason why Jazz is #14 instead of #4.
I saw this car racing on the broadcast for the (can't remember the actual full name) vintage car Le Mans a couple of years ago, and I even made a comment to my father about it at the time since I had just bought my Diaclone Jazz. Random life details aside, in securing the rights to a race car like this you have to deal with: Porsche, the racing team, the corporation that owns the racing team, probably some legality of the driver if their name is associated with this car/number, Le Mans circuit, and/or all of the sponsors of the car when making fake sponsors to put on the toy to make sure they're off enough as to avoid all sorts of copyright issues.
Who knows maybe the Martini & Rossi racing team just didn't want Hasbro to use #4 after the whole "Martinii" stickers on the G1 toy to get it made.

01 - Jazz
02 - (Blurr or Kup)
03 - (Blurr or Kup)
04 - Hot Rod
05 - Scourge
06 - Grimlock and Wheelie
Now this is assuming that all size classes are put together per wave and that there is no surprise figures who have not been leaked yet, like Slag and Daniel.
Rodimus Knight wrote:Am I just hoping in vane that they will change that hinge on Hot Rod's roof to make it red instead of yellow before production.

I stopped getting my hopes up with Hasbro years ago.
That's why I'm not even bothering to hope they'll sell an effects pack for transformers.

While I wouldn't call him my figure of the year, I do think this guy is an amazing combiner and a well overdue upgrade to what we got in the past. sadly I am still missing overload. Sold out everywhere, and my local stores are only just now stocking wave 2 ss leaders.

Yep, just disappointing. They've nearly finished the Bayverse characters it would probably take like 2 or 3 more waves, but they just wont do it!

EvasionModeBumblebee wrote:Well, even the Fan First Friday specifically mentioning Studio Series was kind of a bust. Just SS-86, more ER, and the Devy boxset, which we already knew about for a long time.
It really seems like kind of a jerk move to mention studio series in the description and then put out nothing but yet more G1.
Say it louder for the folks in the back

I could not be more disappointed in the reveals today. The fact that the entire wave 1 2021 are 86 figures is ridiculous. We've never had a wave with only a single movie in it, and then surprise! no live action stuff at all!
The only reveals that are remotely interesting were Thrust and Runabout, and those were only to complete already started teams.
I am so disappointed. Beyond disappointed.
I'm thinking it's getting about time to jump ship for a while

If only Hasbro would stop sucking up to one brand of Transformers fans. I decided to stop collecting generations because it was costing me money I'd rather spend elsewhere, and because I grew up with the Bayverse films I decided to keep on with them. This is just a real kick in the balls from Hasbro.

Even if thats the case, they should have balanced the 86 bots with Bayverse and spread them out until then, not lump all the 86 movie figures in a single wave! I don't think they really have an excuse this time.

I have made that speculation myself.
Of course, they could make an entire couple of years worth of product with just one more combiner. that being the big bombad dragon from TLK. bad movie, awesome robot dragon. the toy we got before is ok mind you, but only 2 knights as opposed to the whole team.
then you could also argue, that if they want to keep g1 in the ss line, there is the entire cybertron cast from the intro scene from bumblebee

With the pandemic and the rate things are going, that's just a bad thing to try.
Complete SS for the current 6 films. Then let it rest. Start the line anew with the next movie under a different name. Until you actually do a Marvel Legends styled line, maybe what RED is trying to do but as transforming figures, don't try to prolong it, let it finish.

Edit: Also, I'll happily be alone in thinking that Blurr is a mix of really good ideas, that do not work together. The chest and arms look great, and the legs look great, but the bulk of the chest and arms makes the legs too lanky. The head also kinda feels similar to Kup where it's just slightly off

ZeroWolf wrote:I think actually just reviving the line at the best time would be better...plus I don't believe that excuse, being an ardent fan of the theory that these only exist in ss because Kingdom was doing beast wars.
It could also be a "Two birds" scenario in which they realized the movie needed love for the 35th, and that Bayverse was running low on steam after Devastator, and that they needed to celebrate Beast Wars, so they used the vagueness of the Studio Series premise to shift 86 into Studio Series, giving the designers some time to try to tackle the freakier/less-designer-friendly designs from the Bay (and Bumblebee) movies, and allowing them to use the real estate opened in the mainline for Beast Wars.
Hopefully this is a one time thing, but I find it kinda funny that G1 is being used to pad the Studio Series line until the next movie, which might be Beast Wars

Ah, okay. That makes more sense. It seems that Jazz just has bad luck with having little tidbits that happen to coincide with less than ideal connotations

I’m of course disappointed (though I can’t say I expected much different), but I do have a silver lining. I went over on my Transformers budget for this year, and I’m still missing Topspin, Skipjack, and Overload. With the next wave being a total skip for me, I’ll have no problems picking those guys up. Figures like Off-road Bumblebee and ROTF Soundwave that I wanted to get but didn’t after finding Jetfire are now back on the table!

And there you have it! The rest of Studio Series Wave 1 revealed, which includes some of the most iconic Autobots and fearsome Decepticons to ever grace the silver screen! We DARE you to not be excited (wink wink). Available for pre-order starting now at most major retailers or in stores starting February 2021.
So what do you all think? Does that Blurr really beat Takara's Legends Blurr from a few years back?

I hear you on being able to save money!
I try to limit myself to a small selection of new figures every year, and most of my year is spent on older stuff if I find a good deal. So far, my preorders for next year are: Prime 10th anniversary Breakdown and War Vehicon, Gigawatt, and Kingdom Megs. I might pick up Kingdom Blackarachnia and SS86 Jazz after I see them in person and they catch my eyes, but I'm just gonna focus on getting on some of my more pricey odds and ends that I've had on my B-Day/X-mas Hubby list.

Only figure I'm a bit disappointed in is blurry and his giant arm sleeves.
Also not feeling hot rod as a voyager - maybe they need a new designation like deluxe+.
I also hope that if they do a rodimus figure it's not going to incorporate this toy and we end up buying the same figure twice. If they are indeed going for an all out homage, would make sense that they don't bother with the hot rod figure like the POTP and go for an update of the original toy, with the winnebago opening up into a "weapons platform", which would make sense with them making many figures able to connect. And I reckon that platform was the most fun bit for me as kid cos the figure was bonkers crap.

It is a bit of a shame, since Generations Scourge had it on an extension strut IIRC and with Titans Return you could plug his head into the altmode's aftcastle.
Definitely getting Scourge, Grimlock, and Kup (if I was able to get a TR Kup with rounded limbs without buying the Legends version I'd be less eager to get hold of him, but I still like him). I want to like Hot Rod, but the faux-parts chest really bugs me... Blurr is a lowe-priority maybe. Don't get me wrong, I think he's good (and the lankiness works with him being a swift runner), but with my having a repainted Titans Return Blurr it's kinda a lateral move. Plus TR Blurr has wrist rotation.
