Of course, what I really want are Trailbreaker and Hoist....
Posted by gothsaurus on May 18th, 2011 @ 11:52am CDT
But I'd definitely get an iGear Ironhide if it is an old school van. The backwards transformation of the Classics one still doesn't feel quite right... not to mention his codpiece issue. I'm still waiting for a perfect Ironhide for my Classics shelf.

Or maybe this is Impactor?
Not sure but these look too similar. The crest, the angular eyes, the top edges of the "ears" and the brow rougly match.

And if this is indeed a full and original figure, I may reconsider my opinion on them.
But, I call dibs for the story when i-Gear decides to cancel this due to "Cost and time".

If that's not Impactor I'll be extremely disappointed.

Could they be making something genuinely new? I'm intrigued.
iGear's always been in a strange place since the 3rd party boom

Igear... You now officially have my attention.

That's why I choose to not post them when I can avoid it. Other than the Kup heads, I'm pretty disdainful of their practices. We're all trying to do a better job of reporting third party/knock off news, while not drowning out the real Hasbro/Takara news and keeping everything unbiased. It's tough when we're all so passionate about collecting.
Thanks for keeping us honest!

That's why I haven't posted a single i-Gear article since the black trailer one, I just hate them too much.

But MP Ramjet is soooooo tempting. The price has made me reject the idea of a pre-order at this time. And the other piece about not being an original idea, but a design taken from another...

Yes, I agree. I think all three of them are but for all the wrong reasons. Maybe, depending on how this Ironhide is made, my attitude will change.

That was my first thought. It'd be pretty lame, even by iGear standards.
Even if this does turn out to be an original piece of engineering (and I seriously doubt it is), I think it's going to take more than one figure to change most people's perceptions.

put in the 3rd party forums and leave it there just my opinion.

As long as it's an original mold there would be nothing any more unethical than any other 3rd party product. More than likely though it's a reuse of Alt Skids mold.

I don't recognize the body, but does somebody else?

Maybe one of the Marvel Crossover figures?

No, not Impactor. Which is too bad because Impactor would be nice.

It does sorta look like Blaster, though. But not really on closer inspection.

Which is made from the Skids mold that I mentioned earlier.

I'll give them credit for the very Nick Roche looking face, but the body does look a lot like Alt Stepper.

Everything matches down to the grooves in the helmet.
The PP05 Teaser is clearly an IDW inspired Ironhide:
Plus the tag line is a give away: "Such heroic nonsense" is the last thing Megatron said to Ironhide in the 86 movie before killing him.
So far everything in the PP line has been full figures. Yes, they've been KO's of MP figures, but full figures none the less. From what I've been reading in other forums this will be an original design full figure. Guess we'll find out at BotCon, which seems pretty ballsy in it's own right.
iGear is unpredictable. They wear at least two hats, third party toy maker and distributor. The PP series and the MGT-01 Arcee are not iGear products and they are quick to point that out. They're basically just the distributor for these. In a way a think that's pretty cool, there are a lot of talented people out there with great ideas for figures that may just not have the resources or knowledge to ever get their ideas produced. If iGear can help make that happen I'm all for it.
As for the Impactor head, I would also lean toward a full figure. It may be a KO of an existing figure plus their new head, but I think it will probably be a full figure. So far nothing they have released has required any real customization, just part swapping. Of course that could change with this release since they are constantly changing their game.
The bottom line is we'll have to wait and see, but I'm hopeful.

I'm honestly wondering when I-gear is going to get around to making their promised Monarch Leader small scaled MP Megatron toy. Having a 8 to 9 inch MP megatron would be priceless. as it'll be in better size scale with other Classics & AEC leader sized toys.

You know if they do downscale MP Megatron, and you bought it, you would be complaining about it being broken right out of the box.
MP Megatron is freaking delicate, there are many thin plastic pieces on him that if scaled down would simply be plastic foil. The thing would crumble in your hands, like the thin weak plastic of the crystal clear Faith Leader.

No that was Crystal Pepsi, or also known as the drink of the Cinema Snob.
I don't know what the clear version of Faith Leader was called, but lets see if I can find the video...
Ah here it is:
That's what would happen with the downscaled MP Megatron KO if ever made, heck people are already complaining about how fragile the original is.

This would be sweet.
I'd want a revamp waist/hip design on the toy. that got rid of the pin joints. and replaced them with ratchet or ball joints.
