i think that if he didnt destroy it the should come up with the idea that, either he rebuilds cybertron, or turns it into something like the matrix in the next movie ..

It looked like after all what he was saying about destroying it to prevent the Decepticons for using it for evil purposes that he actually removed it pretty carefully and had other intentions for it. I think if they had zero intentions of using it further they would not have shown Optimus removing it.
It would be cool to see it forged into the matrix of leadership or something but it looked too small to me, I'd have to look at it again and I think I will this Saturday when more friends and family come over because they cannot make it up on Christmas day but one present I am giving is the Target exclusive two disk version of the movie to my nephew so he will be so excited and want to watch the movie.

They did that for the sole reason of setting up possibilities in future movies. Just one of those things that isn't written yet ... but think of the possibilities!

Just an awesome scene to put in the movie, because now they don't have to waste TF2 screen time to make us believe there was a piece of the allspark left.

Writers are going to have a field day with it.

Oh yes! Let's completely bring back G1, hell, lets drop the new designs & give them blocky, out of proportioned bodies. And Prime! Get rid of the flames & kill him off! And who could forget Ultra Magnus & Hotrod, and Arcee & Daniel!
And let's include Unicron, the transformer who's size is less consistent than Rumble and Frenzy's colours!
Hell, you know what! Fire Bay, get rid of the crew, scrap the actors, lets just re-release the '80s movie!!!
And you know what? We shouldn't even edit it! Lets just hook up a DVD player to the cinema screens and play it right off the special edition 20th Anniversary DVD!

They did it to show the viewer that the AllSpark was destroyed and rendered powerless.

Until I see otherwise that's what i'm sticking with. AllSpark destroyed, no longer a plot device.

That's what I'm talking about!!!!
This may be silly, but what if the "irony" is that the allspark has the power to create life, but,
can be destroyed by life it creates (a bpt's spark), WITHOUT completely destroying that life form (so Megs can be brought back).

I would like to see a storyline that involves Starscream bringing back a group of Decepticons, a group of Autobots coming to earth, and then in the last third of the movie, someone actually busting out that piece of the Allspark to create even more bots.
Either that, or even waiting longer and using the Allspark in the third movie.

LOL this is exactly what the hardcore uber G1whiners wanted and I do love G1 don't get me wrong but I do not believe that it needed to be a holy bible or the ten commandments written in stone with nothing different for future audiences to enjoy, the target audience would have been too small and we'd have a movie that only G1ers could have related to.
I like G1 for what it is but there needs to be room for other things too.
If they wanted the new movie based on G1 or the G1 movie well we see how well that one did, it took in less than 6 million dollars and even for 1986 that's not good at all, that's what they still insist it should have been based on.

Other than the sarcasm in the above post which I did get a kick out of but if they did bring back Megatron as Galvatron well I'd have no objection but maybe I'm biased lol

If they do bring him back as Galvatron well at least in G1 he was one of the more uniquely designed characters and had more of a roundly drawn design than a blocky one and I'm sure the new movie design would be even more different from that.

I just wonder what alt form he would take ?
Keep the same or similar jet mode, become a cannon but does he lose his flying capabilities then ?
Lots of ideas but time will tell.

Me too. Optimus meant to completely destroy the Allspark in order to keep it out of Decepticon hands. If he didn't, Earth would've been razed to the ground by their war.

Well what if the all-spark regenerated it-self I mean it's still the all spark.

Just thinking about the All-Spark. You know during an interview the movie creative team wanted to steer away from mass-shifting? Well didn't the All-Spark "mass-shift" from the size of hoover dam to a portable tv? I could be nit picking.

When they said that they were referring to the bots themselves and not just a general canvas to cover everything in the movie.

The allspark was also their god, and since it did have godlike powers to create and destroy life why could it not do the things that it did ?

Why not view it at face value and consider the allspark essentially hollow, we never saw anything to suggest otherwise and all it did was fold in on itself and not necessarily mass shift, I don't think it's too much of a stretch.

I think most of the allspark is still in meg's body and it will eventually revive and reformat him and the other dead cons and the shard optimus has will probably become the matrix of the Transformers film universe and may be the only thing that can stop the new threat, maybe unicron will be revealed as the maker of the allspark or something in TF2.

Galvatron is weakass. The reason the 86 movie fared so poorly is because it sucked so hard. It's what turned me off of transformers completely as a kid. No galvatron, hotrod, quints, and yes, no arcee either, PLEASE! And Unicron can burn in hell, as Orson Welles wished with some of his last, final words.

The "Bay Trilogy", as it were and will be, can easily be filled with G1 *INSPIRED* events prior to the 1986 movie. Megatron should come back with an alt mode we finally recognize, and I am personally voting (and smearing my plot feces) for him to return as his mass-shifting gun-mode. The allspark mass-shifted; since Megatron will return having "absorbed" the all-spark, it makes sense that he's the ONLY cybertronian who can. He should also be able to harness the allspark's radiation and start building an army, which follows well the "empire strikes back" formula, creating an impossible situation for the autobots by the end of the second film.

But please god, no galvatron. He was fluorescent like a fly girl from In Living Color for christ's sake...

If by absorbed you mean a huge hole in his chest lol.
Megatron did not harness the power with either technology already built in to him or any external devices.
The blast from the allspark killed him of course so unless he's playing "roboto possum" for those that get the reference, then I'd say no, he did not absorb to either use the energy at that moment or store it for a later time.

As far as Galvatrons color scheme goes well that can easily be changed as we know his design would be changed for the new movies when or if he shows up.

I did not think the 1986 movie sucked but some scenes or characters like any movie won't sit well for everyone, it was an animated movie based on the weekly tv series with much better animation and I will say to my last breath just like the G1 tv series it should not have been meant to be a holy bible that the new movie HAD to be based upon in designs or anything else like so many rabid fan boys wanted.

I personally liked Galvatron better than Megatron, I mean they are the same bot and all, Galvatron just had a better alt mode IMO. Honestly, Megs was cool and all but he turned into a tiny ass handgun, worst alt mode ever and he was literally a tool for his underlings. Galvatron had an awesome alt mode, at least he could aim and fire himself instead of saying "hey Starscream, shoot me at the autobots!"
