But I am! Bought, paid, and on it's way!
Well don't get me wrong, the video show casing the newer version from Takara Tomy is nice.. But once you have bought the DMK 03 (on order by me), it just doesn't add up.. (...)
For me a Transformers MUST transform. Sure, that backpack of his is a great compromise to make, but it's one that I accept. For me, a TF that don't transform is pointless, no matter how good he look.
Heck, I bought my Hasbro Leader AoE Optimus at roughly 67$ taxes included at my local TrU. Sure, I overpaid but I found the good outweight the bad. However, that new AD-31 Optimus look so amazing (and transform) I had to buy him. I may put my Hasbro one in storage but I'll bever sell it for 2 reasons. First, it will never be worth it because I'll lose way too much money. Second, it's so different from AD-31 that it's worth keeping.
Like I said before, to make a transformable Optimus that is 100% perfect in vehicle mode and who is 100% the same from the CGI model would requite a new mold. Bigger and way more complex than the ROTF Leader OP one. Even then, I don't think it would ever be truly possible. Maybe if we figure out how to make transformium?
I don't disagree with your purchase, or the fact that there are limitations in making a Transformer toy, costs, engineering, etc.. But I asked myself a fundamental question as a collector.. How much time on my shelf does my figures remain in robot mode versus vehicle..
It turns out, about 96%..so My personal preference has now drifted towards being able to get a bot that looks perfect in robot mode, and in vehicle as well. Or just robot mode..Why not settle for both, or the 96%. that's just me..I like that figure of Optimus from AOE.. the newer version.. but I am going to hold off until I see maybe a future version that is made better.
