New G1 Cybertronian BumbleBee for Winter Wonderfest 2012

Posted by GetRightRobot Feb 2, 2012 at 10:50pm CST 49,392 views
Pictures of a very recognizable Bumblebee have been sighted at ameblo.jp Set to be a 2012 Winter Wonderfest exclusive, this figure is currently priced at 5000 yen! ($65 USD). Unfortunately, no information on size or availability has surfaced at this time. Although watermarked with the name seibertron, I can assure you, that this little Bumblebee is not affiliated with Seibertron.com. Pictures have been mirrored below of the currently named G1 Bumble Seibertron mode!

Damn, that's so impressive I could actually be persuaded to pay $65.

Nonetheless, this is the sort of thing that's going to make me mourn KOTOYS.com from now on. Some bold company needs to copy this in a wide variety of colors if it's strictly an exclusive.

Or better yet, retool it into a passable Scrounge...nah, Legends Cosmos is still the only mold that could actually roll without that pesky tailfin. Hey, look me in the eye and tell me that Knock-Offs are less ethical than widespread kitbashing of a toy that rare and sought after!

Er, sorry 'bout the tangent. Love the looks of this thing! Speaking of looks, Reprolabels: This Bee needs to see! Eye stickers, please?

A little off topic, but I might actually persuaded to buy it if it WERE affiliated with this site. The price for 3rd party figures is starting to get ludicrous. If seibertron.com produced even one figure, I could see them making a killing on it, simply due to user loyalty.

This will probably be a licensed item, similar to the licenses that were granted to JazaiToys. Glad to hear you would buy a hypothetical figure made by us though! :KREMZEEK:

Dear iGear and Maketoys:

You should include a MTME Cybertronian mode Bumblebee in your minibot lines. This Wonderfest exclusive lays out a good basic transformation scheme.

Kthx & <3,
~metaphorge

P.S. I'd be all over the Wonderfest exclusive if it had a face....

On topic: The figure is really cool, but just too simple. If I-Gear could make a scout sized version with detail and articulation, then we have a winner.

Off topic: KO's are all around us. When you buy an air filter from pep boys instead of paying double at the dealer, youve just bought a KO. Ever tried Sam's Choice cola from Walmart ? You just drank a KO. Ever had your ink cartridges refilled for ten bucks instead of giving HP $18.99 ? You just paid someone to build you a KO. Have you ever paid for a Philly Cheesesteak that was not made in Philadelphia ? You just ate a KO of the city's intellectual property and crapped it out of your a**.

Somehow all this is ok but KO toys is considered evil by most TF collectors for commiting the ultimate crime: Giving fans what they want at affordable prices.

Man, HasTak should really consider hiring these Jizaitoy dudes, seriously, I never thought this version of Bumblebee was possible, maybe one that has a different robot mode like Cybcon Bumblebee but not like, an exact replica of his earth robot mode.

Incorrect - a KO of Coke would be if someone stole the recipie off Coke, copied it and sold under the Coke logo for 50% less. What you're justifying is what most of us already have - Third Party Products. Sam's Choice Cola vs Coke is like FansProject's Defender vs Springer. Similar enough to the popular brand, but different enough to avoid lawsuits.

Also off topic, but interesting - HP (and other printing giants) doesn't have a copyright on their ink, but instead a copyright (or trademark, whatever) on the electronic signature OF their ink, hence why when you plug in authentic HP ink into a printer it knows all the details; but may give you an incorrect or no reading if there's a no-name ink brand in there instead.

Question...why hasn't this been a classics figure before now? C'mon TAK/HASBRO get on the ball. I'm not neccesarily reffering to this specific design but the idea of G1 Cybertron Bee...I have a feeling if it sold well that Cybertronian alt mode Jazz, "Jack", and the Seekers wouldn't be too far behind (yes, I'm aware they did a Micromachines metal cybertronian "Pyramid Seeker" already, but that was more Dreamwave Comic looking than G1). Although I was impressed with the War for Cybertron Shockwave thats coming down the pipeline later this year that was leaked earlier today.

Well you’re right about the cola, but that is because cola is over 100 years old. If Sam’s Choice came out in 1900 when only Coke existed, it would be considered a KO. I suppose for whatever reason, nobody owns a patent for “cola”. So anyone can change up the recipe ever so slightly and legally copy Coke.

As far as printer cartridges, HP may not have a copyright on ink, but they don’t authorize companies to refurbish their cartridges for profit. The refurbished cartridges are an unauthorized copy of an official HP product. So even though they are not made from scratch at a factory, theoretically they are KO’s.

While I like the idea of a G1 based Bumblebee figure, this wont be it. The WFC will do until there is a proper G1 replacement. This looks like it was designed for a child by his Grandad in a shed on a Sunday afternoon with the added bonus that he didn't have to spend time talking to his annoying relatives as some dreary get together. Which is a sweet thing to do for that kid but the result wasn't something I would be interested in buying.

Err, I dont like it.

Pepsi Cola was founded just a little after Coca Cola, and cola itself was copied like crazy back then. But copyrights worked differently at the time, especially in the US.

Hasbro did intend to release a version of this Bumblebee in the Titaniums line along with a remold into Cliffjumper, but cancelled it along with Shockwave and Arcee.

I've wanted this version of Bumblebee for a long time, I even listed it on the 2004 OTFCC Hasbro survey, but this isn't it. It looks ok, but can be executed so mush better.

They should relaunch the Titaniums line and bring out the unreleased toys that Dead Metal noted, man I wanted that Cosmos.
