Judging from its looks, probably an animal transformer that turns into a jet ala Sky Lynx!
As we know, it is a Decepticon and will it be appearing in the movie?
Let the speculation begin!

I'm a little confused about the name though: I'm guessing this guy won't actually be in the third movie, and therefore won't be named in anything other than his packaging. If that's the case, why was Hasbro so in love with the name "Hatchet" that they stuck with it despite trademark problems preventing them from using it without "Decepticon" attached? It's one thing to do that for established names, but here you'd think they'd have just called him something else. Or has there been a guy named Hatchet before?

It makes me feel old not to be on board with this new stuff, like I'm getting left behind or that I'm being closed minded.
Where is the line that separates those things? I really try to look objectively at new designs and toys, but I can't help but look at this and think (like many other upcoming toys) that Transformers has maybe gone a step too far out of the norm.
I know...I know...Transformers change with time and series. But don't forget that change has at times been rejected. Beast Machines is the strongest example of that. While it was a good show, the vast majority of fans did not like where it took the overall franchise. The course correction was RiD and Armada in place of Transtech. When the movies are through, will we see that again?

There is no previous use of Hatchet according to the TFWiki, anyway, so Hasbro must really have wanted to use the name if they were willing to add the Decepticon prefix. Maybe the name's gonna be used on Transformers Prime, who knows?

I dunno. I like to see new and interesting designs that don't always just stick to the overused humanoid form and try something different. The Movie stuff in particular certainly got me more interested in Transformers than I ever was even when I had all them G1 toys as a kid. Without the movie stuff I certainly can't imagine myself ever having bought Transformers as an adult as the relatively simplistic blocky designs of other TF lines just don't do it for me at all (oh and I hate, HATE human-like faces on TF's these days. Fine if it's a nostalgic upgrade of a G1 character but I find it too overdone and ridiculously stupid looking in some of the IDW comics and crud like Animated)

CP, you're just old. But I have to agree there are certain aesthetics that belong with certain toy brands...there's a Gundam design, an EVO (or whatever eats called I'm not a watcher as one can imagine), a Robotech/Macross look, and there WAS definitely a TF look, until Beast Machines, and then again, in the movie, and then again with Animated.
Looks like the latter more than the former CP. AS in it will keep morphing, and not going back to the G1/Armada/RID aesthetic (if there is such a thing).

Now, make a white, blue and red space shuttle that turns into a dragon! Hatchet vs Skylinx.
I'm loving the cyberverse stuff.

Hatchet appears to be, to Ravage, what Buzzsaw is to Laserbeak

I like that size, and it is a great size in which to play with odd designs like this.
I am mostly a Classics/etc. collector these days, and I can find ways to mingle a figure like this into my Classics stuff, or even toss it into the MP/Alt display.

[/random speculations]

Except Ravage was stripped from his spine likes beads from a string.

That, and has anybody else noticed the 'Series 1 - 007' marking on the back of the card, near the top? Does this mean Hatchet is like the seventh Cyberverse Commander figure? And hey, where's the 'series 2' stuff now.

You got that right. I started as a zoider, then became a transfan when RiD came out. This guy makes me super happy. He looks like Valkyrie Ceaser with a jet alt mode, Either a muscular Lion or a griffin.

They sold me on "monstrous," but he also appears to have a little drone! A not-quite-Scout figure with a drone, neato!
Cyberverse is seriously going to be the only DotM stuff I buy this year.

It reminds me of those Mega-block Dragons toys. I'm planning on picking up several myself.

A bit like Mindwipe from the NEST line, with the 'docking' drones. Though no bot modes for Hatchet's pair (though I have a sudden urge to name those drones anyway).
