HeadRobots.com has been motivated by the need of many Transformers fans who own headless figures to find a suitable replacement to complete some of the most revered molds to hit the fandom. Soon to be released is an unused G1 Concept Cobra Head, which is, apparently, their first design in this venture.
According to HeadRobots, retail cost is set at $18 USD. The Cobras are made of high quality injection molded ABS plastic and distributors who will ship to the US, CANADA, and EUROPE who will open pre-orders soon. Variant cards can be purchased individually for 1.40 so you don't have to buy a whole new figure.
No word as to whether we'll see additional heads produced, but other unused concepts for the Headmasters include the rhino, bull, and dugong.

As much as I support anything to do with the Headmasters, I'm not loving this.

The mini-comic alone makes up for any visual qualms.
Unless there's a 3rd party Headmaster coming out, that supposed to represent a mass-production type, I can't really (like the rest of the world) get into the idea of COBRA using a bunch of Headmasters to capture Transformers...
wait.. What!?

its NAME is cobra, its not MADE by cobra. hence the others named bull, and rhino. unless those are the SUPER SECRET organizations trying to take over the world.

As much as I support anything to do with the Headmasters, I'm not loving this.
Jim Sorenson published model sheets of about a dozen Headmasters intended for Japan in The Ark II. They were designed for the cartoons, but never made it into shows or toy production. Almost all of them were animals, with one humanoid figure. The cobra is one of them, and this execution is remarkably accurate to the model sketch.

Thanks for the info.

It's a sea creature similar to a walrus or a manatee.

I like the concept. It reminds me of the exclusive animal heads that Takara produced many years ago and gave away as toy store free-bees. Ironically, they are now relished items!

Preorders coming soon to a webstore near you!
I need like 6 to serve as drones for my Serpent O - R Custom. If they come in Golds and Greens, I will get 6 of them, even at 18usd.
[edit- Not to mention they look like the heads of the Serpent Suits from Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz]

No, but if that's the ugliest thing you've ever seen in your life, well it gets so much worse.

I really hope they continue with this. Sure official one would be excellent, but this is a really cool thing too.
I'm hoping for all the rest. I still need to get Shuffler (The elephant) from the original animals ultra rare white versions as well (these were official).
I hope they make some alternate colors, just for fun, and to sort of match existing mold colors that could have lost their 'head'.

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, I've been wanting Hasbro to come out with new Headmasters for so long I can't really remember not wanting it. (This is part of why I was as happy as I was about U2.0 Targetmaster Cyclonus.) Maybe you don't hear about it so much, but for some reason I don't feel like I'm alone here...
mechabooks wrote:I think its a great idea. I don't own any headless headmasters but, I still like the idea.
The fact that I don't have one either is the only reason I'd consider passing on this. I think I might just get it anyway, even if only to show Hasbro I'm interested in new Headmaster figures.
mechabooks wrote:Now they need to do generic guns for Targetmasters!
Ditto. Unlike with the Snake figure, I actually have a need for such a figure. My G1 Kup (the one I've needed the weapon for forever) isn't the Targetmaster version, but the G1 Blurr I have is. I don't mind a generic third-party Targetmaster weapon...

Add me to the camp that is surprised the Generic Targetmaster hasn't been done yet too. Especfially since Hasbro has standardized now on a peg hole, or close to it anyway, ANYONE could buy them, or a very minor retool, not jsut people wanting to replace the G1 gunless dudes.
I gotta admit, I do like the Cobra head, but I was confused as to why Cobra until I read up. I like it, and might be something fun to have next to Soundwave and Autoscout. (Another fig I wanted to pickup. Strupid economy)

Yes, the design probably makes more sense if you know the story behind it but we had to remove the info from the site
We do have more of these that are ready for production but we are going to change gears on our next release and go for something a little more general
Anyways, new pictures are up of the head on different bodies:
