Possibe Price and Release Date Revealed for Transformers Masterpiece MP-44 Optimus Prime Ver 3.0

Gotta say, I'm not nearly impressed enough with that figure to want to pay about twice what the previous version costs. (Yes, I know the price hasn't been finalized yet, etc., but I wouldn't even pay thirty dollars more for that over MP-10.)

Well, Takasa Tony is going to do amazing business off of this one.

It's a good looking figure and all but is any figure actually worth that much?

When buying things I try to think of not only about if I want it but also how much time I'll get out of it compared to the price.

So a few hundred dollars for something I'll probably only fiddle with for a couple days tops (not literal days but the actual amount of time I'm interacting with it) is probably not worth it.

Takara's quality control lately hasn't been high enough to justify their increasing price tags for these figures. The trailer, which is likely to be mostly a hollow box doesn't justify a $100 premium over MP Beastwars Megatron. The fact that it is "official" has always been a huge selling point, but with 3rd party companies producing figures of comparable or better quality and design for half the price or less.. I wonder if 1st party toys are starting to become irrelevant at least for the high-end collector market. It isn't as if Takara is releasing toys based on NEW character designs, and 3rd party toy companies have shown they can do a lot of great things with the G1 character designs.

This is insane.

If a third party group can produce a phenomenal g1 representation for just a little over $110 CAD HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY $585CAD????????

I have been extremely loyal to Takara Tomy since the 80's. I have to look at the overall expenses now as that amount of money is equivalent to typical monthly payment on a Subaru STi.
I think I've met my match and will focus on third party from now on. Or better still, I'm happy with my version of MP-10.

OPTIMUS PRICE!

I’m looking at my V2 beside my MP Ratchet and it’s looking like OP V3 is also going to be a little taller. So it seems like they’re not only making him incredibly overpriced but also seems like they’re going to try and start a new MP Scale standard. Which makes a lot of sense on their end but is a huge middle finger to us, the collectors.

It makes sense because bigger figures mean they can price them all this high going forward. And they can attempt to undercut the entire third party MP Scale industry.

But this only works if we buy into this BS. If they don’t sell well they’ll be forced to stick to the current MP Scale. And with the way Takara’s QC is now and how they offer absolutely no recourse to fix their bad QC on their MP line (save for the distributor accepting a return and I’ve already completely cut out one major online seller because their standard is much less than mine and they don’t accept returns unless there’s a ton of QC issues. A big paint chip? Sorry, you’re out of luck. “You’re a serious collector, we get that” my butt).

If Takara actually took care of us after sale or even if they just upped their QC to acceptable standards for $300-$500 figures then I’d think about biting. But when 3Ps do it better AND make sure you get a good copy (sometimes going above and beyond) you can be sure I for one will be grabbing that pretty 10” Magic Square OP and bollocks to a new MP Scale.

Man that is crazy high. I think I reached my price limit with my recent MP Megs purchase, and so far I've no incentive to get this on top of MP-10s..

I'll pay anything when those Armada MP figures start coming out though
