Prototype Image of Disney Label Donald Duck

Posted by Blurrz Aug 7, 2009 at 5:34am CDT 11,713 views
Following in the footsteps of his rival and good friend Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck is also going to be represented in Takara's Disney Label toyline. While this is nothing new to those who have been following Transformers news, it would be good news (or bad, depending on your stance on this toyline) to know that this figure is well into production, as a prototype image of DL Donald Duck has appeared;

Re: Disney Label Donald Duck Image

If by chance you are interested in this figure, then a preorder at Big Bad Toy Store may suffice.

...I thought they (TakaraTomy and/or Hasbro) coudn't produce anything TF that transforms into a VW Beetle anymore? Or did that change along the way since it's a Disney character basically turning into another Disney character? :?:

So these are actually licensed by Disney?
Re: Prototype Image of Disney Label Donald Duck (view post)

Of course they're licensed. You can't just knock out toys with Mickey's likeness without Disney giving you the go ahead.

As for the Volkswagon thing, maybe it's because this figure isn't a "war robot" (no weapons, no war backstory). Maybe they have enough faith in Disney's standards. Or maybe VW Japan is more relaxed than VW America.

My only question is: What's the alt mode?

Alright, so if the first one was "M-I-C-K-E-Y P-R-I-M-E", does this make this one "BB the Love Duck"? :P

lol, BB the Love Duck... I'm hoping he gets the yellow alt mode, then we can call him Bumbleduck.

The alt mode isn't realistic enough to actually look like a VW Bug, therefore they can do it. It's why they can still reissue G1 Bumblebee, and Hasbro can get away with making Universe toys that look very much like real Lamborghinis and Nissans, and a movie fig that's almost an Audi. Apparently there's a 10% rule, where if they change 10% of the details they can legally get away with it. Alternator Bumblebee never made it because they were supposed to be 100% realistic, licensed alt modes.

Now, on the topic of the figure, I've already got it preordered and I'm not canceling, because I'm buying all the Disney Label TFs for my girlfriend. She's a huge Disney fan.

I think Donald looks pretty good so far, as good as Mickey. And I like that he comes with an accessory. I just hope they make him look like Bumblebee rather than Herbie, maybe they'll give him 2 different versions like they did with Mickey.

Bumblebee isn't white with racing numbers on him.

Herbie makes sense....

this way VW can't complain and say they're using their likeness, Disney can just say "sorry but this is Herbie, we own him" you know?

though yeah, considering its a Transformers line, you'd think they color him like Bumblebee.

either way i'm a big Donald fan and this is cute...i want. lol

Testify! :P
I know others might flame me for this, but when I first saw the Mickey Transformer, my first thought was, 'That is one UGLY piece of plastic.' I don't like this Donald one either. :?

Donald Duck actually looks better than Mickey. And Donald is a better character than Mickey, though downplayed by Disney recently.
