We have something really cool to share with you today. JTPrime 17 has uploaded images of the Rise of Tyranny 2 pack which includes Miner Megatron and Senator Ratbat. Both are redecos and retools with Megatron being a retool of the Siege Megatron toy and Ratbat being a retool of Studio Series Scourge. These are rumoured to be part of this year's set of Amazon Exclusives. The box itself is reminiscent of the Wreckers 2 packs we got last year. This may also be available at an upcoming convention. We will let you know all the details as we learn more.

The design team is really doing their homework, even if they may set a questionable trend; Senator Ratbat being made of Scourge. First we had Universe 2008 Ratbat made of C-Sideways who was used for BotCon 2009 Scourge, then Generations Ratbat made of Scourge from the same line:

However, the Cybertron Sideways-made Ratbat was meant to be not the Senator Ratbat from IDW, but rather the Ultracon Ratbat from Dreamwave's "War Within Series", as stated on the toy's packaging.

I do like the absence of deception symbols on them (still not sure why they get it wrong for junkions) but I think 2008 universe ratbat wins out - except for the hefty price on it.

I wonder is this is almost a sign that senator Ratbat could be in Transformers One. Just getting us ready to see these characters on the big screen.

This set is based on IDW's Megatron Origin series. It's another two-pack based on previous fictions that had a prewar setting, like the two War Dawn sets were.

I know that, it still doesn't mean it isn't tied into it. We started getting every Beast Wars character leading into a Beast themed movie. Now were getting a bunch of prewar characters leading into a prewar movie.

We got Beast Wars toys in Kingdom (two years ago, btw) because 2021 was the 25th anniversary of Beast Wars (and because of backlash when Hasbro did nothing to celebrate the 20th anniversary back in 2016).

Toy development does not happen that quick and we know that they have been interesting in putting Beast Wars characters in the movies sense "The Last Knight" and "Rise of the Beast" was pushed back multiple times because both the pandemic and the need for more production time. The point of Kingdom was to bring the Beasts back into peoples memories and to be sure that Hasbro had all those name trademarks again. So it's a safe assumption that all these prewar two packs regardless of being based on G1, IDW or the Highmoon games are a form of brand synergy to get people in the mind set of prewar Transformers to build hype for "Transformers One".

I am very, VERY exited for that Ratbat / Miner Megs set. I always wanted an OFFICIAL Miner Megs and that Ratbat will be great alongside my Takara United one. Both look great and as Amazon exclusives, I'll have a chance to get them.

Oh, also pointing out that at 60$US, that's TWO VOYAGER we're getting. Voyagers are now usually 34$ US. So the set is 8$US cheaper than 2 voyagers at normal price. So that's a deal!
I wonder what the Canadian price will be? :-?

Even though they're both IDW characters, I'm much more interested in Ratbat than Megatron. Probably because for me Megatron Origin was disappointing. And i think the Scourge mold is great, while that tank Megatron is just okay.

well done. When we first got the rumors of miner megs and saw the headless test shot I groaned. The sige megs is a great mold, hands down. but its been overused to death. and then we saw the full image and I was like... Ya I need that. this just further sealed the deal now.

It will NOT be worth it.
At all.
Because you can bet you left nut, your right nut, and the squirrel's nuts reserves that the eBay seller will sell the figures separately for the the price of the whole set EACH at the bare minimum.

I already have siege Megatron and don't really wanna double dip. This deco does look cool though and I love the weapons

Ratbat I'd normally be a sucker for because I never got the deluxe senator Ratbat from before. Not sure if I like this one yet, will need to see more pictures

This is still a cool set though, happy to see idw stuff get more love

This is a really great set, though I already have the Deluxe Senator Ratbat. Definitely getting to.

This is obviously part of a greater set of figures as Will alluded to in the article, it appears to be a debate stage of some sort with Ratbat facing off against somebody that would be on the opposite box. I'm thinking IDW Orion Pax in the bottom corner.

But who would be in the top? I know what Senator I want it to be.

Senator Shockwave! Maybe as either a retooled Siege Seeker or LE Metalhawk? The latter they could have already worked some parts into since it's a new retool itself. But a Seeker wouldn't need much retooling and the guns can be replaced with wings on the arms.

Oooh, I am growing more fond of that Megatron. Ratbat also looks very nice. I don't have either of these molds myself (though I have experienced both through my brother's collection), so this might be something I go for if it's not too hard to obtain.

Regardless of whether is meant to tie in to Transformers One, I am glad they are still doing designs from the original IDW series. There's still hope for more MTMTE characters!

Seems to me they are making moves to let there be no definitive 'origin' to the war. We got and will get G1 cartoon versions, and now IDW versions, with more on the way.

I kind of like it.

There we go, there is an official transformation of Megs that looks better, I'm glad I waited to judge. Also, Senator Ratbat, awesome, I'll absolutely be grabbing this set...I assume tomorrow post-stream, given the sudden increase in these leaks?
