Caught up on the Skybound comics, and I think I am now going to need SS86 Magnus. And of course he is nowhere to be seen anymore. And of course of course, I would prefer a yellow eyed version, but no luck on a leak there yet.
And I am starting to question if I am going to need to get the SS86 Constructicons.
I had to order Legacy Elita-1 so I would have a properly scaled Elita.
Almost ordered SS86 Arcee, but I am still happy with my T30 one, and neither Earthrise nor SS86 really look better/more comic accurate than her.
I am now torn on SS86 Prime too, cause he is more accurate to the comic, but I also think that, given how iconic the "Let's go on the offensive" Prime with Megatron arm now is, they would hopefully make either a version like this, or give SS86 Megatron the ability to donate an arm and Optimus to use it. Also, I will get the dramatic capture Prime that I could use, but again, accuracy/arm reuse.

now sometimes a character pops up and it NEVER gets released but seeing as Snarl has just been reduced to €50 euro i think its fair bolted on that were getting him in the shops soon.

Holy ballz, that "reduced" price is the full price of a leader in Canada and USA. For how much a leader sell normally in Europe?

€65.99.
if ya wait a bit they usually drop the price. sandstorm for instance is €49.99 now and Blitzwing is €27.99 though the latter is fairly rare to go that low.
Nemisis dropped to €150 from €209 IIRC for the titan class.
I Dropped in today to have a look and theyve tidied up the shelve big time so i reckon the new stocks coming in this weekend.

Still, if you don't have Blitzwing yet, that's a good price. He's better in hand than expected.

EU prices are insane. Why we don't complain.

postage and tax are a right bastard. i had to fork out 83 euro to get a leader class slag recently, 34 quid of which was those charges.
on topic Smyths have updated their page to say SWOOP is now going on sale between the 5th and 12th of SEPT now.
TBH though it could turn up at anytime. i was in the jervis branch in dublin yesterday and theyre clearing out the shelves for new stock. i cant imagine they want to leave all that shelve space empty for long.

Will it be just the first batch, or will the whole production run be like this?

The right way is to have the blue outline be at the top of the heels, not below them.

That's confusing because since the G1 toy, most G1 style Optimusses have the rear lights as toes, not as heel. It's the opposite on the cartoon model and on the SS86.

Now , it doesn't take a 12th level intellect to deduce, they will likely be released later in a Gift set at some point. However, I didn't jump at the Legacy Stunticons Gift set (as pretty as it was) because I didn't think the toy deco was enough of a difference to buy them all over again. I am getting the G2 Legacy versions, because they are being released slowly over time.
At any rate however... I thought about something rather cool that TT did with MPG Raiden. They had an option to purchase the last member Kaen as an individual, or in a Gift set that contained spaces for the other 5 Trainbots, so you could have all 6 in their original packaging, in the box with all the extras!. Despite the toys themselves being a rather mixed bag, I thought the concept was neat...
Now, I seriously doubt Hasbro would do this but...what if, they released the CC offering (Long Haul and Hook) in an oversize giftset-style box, with spaces for the other 4 constructicons? I think it would be really cool, perhaps as a pulse exclusive or something? I realize retail shelf space is tough especially now. I'm shocked my daughter actually saw Magmatron at Target once! (of course she was the same one that found Motormaster, also only on one occasion, at that same Target 2 years ago) .
But instead of some fans/collectors feeling taken advantage of, once the inevitable Gift-Set is revealed, I think the partial-giftset idea is a nice compromise, and shows more goodwill towards the collectors.
Posted by -Kanrabat- on August 27th, 2024 @ 3:30pm CDT

Retailers are picky enough as they are for the titan boxes and even the regular commander boxes may be too big, several retailer refusing to carry them due to shelf space concerns.
Still, I would see

Just imagine how huge such a box would be!

-Kanrabat- wrote:Just imagine how huge such a box would be!
It would be smaller than the SS69 (RotF) Devastator Box, probably smaller than the MPG Raiden one as well. Probably similar in size to the Pulse Exclusive Legacy Menasor set. The OG Box formatting wouldn't work because those 6 were roughly the same size, but now you have 2 of the 6 members at 3 different sizes

The SS69 box was stupidly huge, but I think a SS86 Devastator box would be the same size if they keep the G1 layout. Also, the "formatting" as you say won't be the same, but similar enough. Beside, there's plenty of space in that design to accomodate vehicles of various sizes.

Hell, I'm most likely buying a second set, but it's to have those six figures individually in bot modes, and in a diorama.

Why not go all the way and buy 3 sets to display the bots, vehicles, and the combined robot all at once?
Still, that would kinda be a waste because you'll then never transform them ever again after that.

Thing is, it's unlikely that a box set would be SS86, it would more likely be in toy colors.
On that note, it's a little weird that Hasbro didn't do their own version of Encore 20A, maybe Walmart didn't want to do him again.

I wouldn’t doubt it if this new Devastator is never released as a box set…
No matter which deco it involves, the fact is that it’s a $210-ish set when you consider the classes of the figures included. And sure, knock that down to $199 to make it slightly more appealing for some…
But even being Devastator, a $200 toy is not an easy sell.

Yeah, to me it would be strange if they did box sets like that, the SS86 Autobot set, the SS '07 movie Autobot and Decepticon sets and the Legacy Evolution Stunticon set, but not an 86 Constructicon set that's only $20 more but has six figures instead of five? I have strong doubts about that one.

A few of those sets you listed cost anywhere from $110-$150...
If Hastak makes a gift set of the SS86 Constructicons, that's 2 deluxes ($50), 2 voyagers ($70), and a CC release ($90)-- $210 before tax.
I bought that Autobot 5 pack for $119.73 total... On top of the Menasor giftset being exclusive, it's clearly targeted at collectors. No kid or non-collector even understands what "toy deco" means. So if a set like this (the toy version Menasor) is such a guaranteed money-maker, then why wasn't it released to mass retail?
But the main point, that some collectors don't consider or don't care about, is that the average, non-collecting person-- kid or adult-- isn't going to jump at spending $50+ on a toy.
Hell, there have been plenty of posts made on these forums over the years by people who are more into collecting than me that state something close to, "... I'll wait until it goes on sale...". Or, "...I'll consider it if I can get it on a sale..."
And weird, that's not just in regards to releases that are $100+.
Releasing the SS86 Constructicons in some exclusive, re-decoed giftset is of course possible.
But again, my point is that a $200+ set of toys is not an easy sell. If you think it is, and you're including the general public and consumers across the board, you've got your head so far up your collection that you're grossly out of touch with reality.
SS69 doesn't prove anything... For every one collector who bought that, there are literally dozens of collectors and non-collectors who didn't.

Overquoting to point out that you never mentioned "mass retail" in your original post, but only for the thing to be made specifically.
SS69 was a 275$US monstrosity and it sold out quickly. I sold mine with the DNA kit at my local geek store and it didn't even last a week on his display shelf. That's not counting all the Takara Masterpieces and 3P figures. SS69 proves everything.
Obviously, these are all aimed at the hardcore collectors and are produced in limited quantities. For all those who were foolish enough to wait for any of these toys to "be on sale", they only missed out and were stuck to pay double on eBay afterward.
The only 200$+ toys that you can wait for a sale are the Titans, because they are mass-retail. Easy to find, and often over-produced. They are not the same.

DO NOT FORGET TO FLIP OUT THE CONNECTORS BEFORE FOLDING THE FEET FOR TRUCK MODE. If not, you will break something. I did not like a dummass. Fortunately, the break was minor and I could repair it.
Be warned.
Appart that, the rest of the transformation was easy enough to figure out. The irony is I think it is more complex than MP-01 and MP-10.
The truck is fantastic, appart a small gap at the back of the cab, but nothing deal-breaking.
The trailer is COMPLETE yet a bit plain paint-wise. I'm sure Reprolabels will fix that.
Overall, I do not regret it at all.

The neck plate is SUPER SUPER tight and requires a level of pressure to snap into place that's well beyond normal levels of comfort.
