Fellow Seibertronians, with pre-orders for him going up, we now have some additional images of the upcoming Takara Tomy Masterpiece Inferno figure, showing off his hose and water spray accessory, along with most of his other accessories, including his multiple faces and bumpers. If only they could change the chest a bit, the only thing I see standing out like a sore thumb
on MP's in robot mode is the chest. Ironhide and Inferno's chest just look like the front of vehicles and don't seem show accurate at all.

Looks pretty good but i'm already in for Ocular Max Backdraft. It has far more detail and articulation but I'll definitely buy this mold when its repainted for Grapple.

I'm impressed that the ladder completely disappears into his chest eliminating a backpack.

I'd still like to see some idea of scale, especially in fire truck mode. Is he going to be the size of a moderate van like Ocular Max? Will he fit inside Optimus Prime's trailer? Or will he be larger, like an actual fire truck, like X-Transbots'?

If someone's already answered this I get lost in the shuffle and don't always follow up after a few days.

I don't think anyone outside of the actual figure design knows, I asked the same question a while back. No mass shifting, so I am assuming the vehicle mode is going to be fairly small scale wise!

I know some people aren't fans of some of the simplistic parts of this figure, but if I had enough $$$ to collect MP's, I'd get this is one Autobot I'd get for sure.

I cancelled my Inferno pre order and will buy Ocular Max Back draft instead. I'm just not feeling Takara did the better job here.

Autobase Aichi has released to us a picture of what is to come with Masterpiece Inferno as his die-cast accessory. This time it's not a coin though, but rather a small die cast Optimus Prime! The little Prime looks to be based on the MP 10 style of design and will stand an inch and a half tall. Check out the image below, and let us know if this is something you will like to see with your Inferno!

That accessory is.. interesting.
I'll definitely be getting this. I don't know why but ever since I was a little kid I've always been drawn to rescue vehicles, so Inferno has always had a special place in my heart ever since I started watching G1

And just like the Masterpiece coins, I don't give a rat's behind about this die cast accessory. I don't need it; I don't want it. It does nothing for me. It'll just sit in the box (or standalone packaging, if it's like the coins) in storage until the day I choose to sell the figure (God forbid!).

Inferno was the first 2nd season deluxe Autobot to appear in the cartoon. I love how he and Beachcomber show up out of nowhere in the Insecticon Syndrome episode.

The masterpiece looks awesome even though a bit too cartoony for my taste. Some more chrome would have been nice

Eh, it's worth bringing MP35 up here for comparison.

Curious, since this is a G1 cartoon collector's line - does anyone here count Grapple among their Season 1 autobots due to the error in the original pilot?

Technically Grapple and the others made their debut in Season 2. But in Desertion of the Dinobots they all suffered from Cybertonium depletion due to "millions of years of being exposed to Earth's atmosphere." So in the context of the show it means that Grapple and the others crashed landed on Earth along with the Season 1 cast four millions years ago.

But yeah, to me "Hauler" is Grapple.

As I said in the Grapple thread, he looks great. Better than Inferno in my opinion. Makes me think I'll buy him rather than Maketoys Wrestle, since I have their Hellfire.

It is a confusing time for Masterpiece releases. While we usually get the Japanese release and the Hasbro Asia release (whos only difference is the inclusion of a coin), Transformers Asia is a third player that introduced itself with the reissue of Masterpiece Ironhide, giving him a new drill accessory. Since then, they seem to have taken over the releases of Masterpiece figures in Asia (and maybe Australia, that is still to be seen). This new direction for the Asian release of Masterpiece figures preffers to offer die cast figures rather than collector coins, as there is currently no indication that these Transformers Asia releases also come with coins. Masterpiece Inferno started what is now a trend of Masterpiece figures coming with die cast mini statues and this first mini statue is finally fully revealed. It is a small monochrome die cast statue of Optimus Prime and it comes in a box with a clear plastic window. The indication of it being #1 on the box hints at a new long line of figures that is sure to either frustrate or please completionists.

This image comes from Transformers Asia's Facebook page which also states the following:

Wasn't the MP-05G release the first different HasAsia exclusive figure?
If so, that means the Reflector he came with would be the first example of coin substitution.

If I am wrong, please correct.
However I have been doing some research on the G release, its been popping up cheap on eBay and I have been trying to determine a difference between an official versus unofficial release before i make a purchase.
In the course of this research, the above info was fresh on my mind.

Ah right, yes. But did Takara release him too or was he only released by Transformers Asia? They rereleased other toys in new decos before so I would see him more along the lines of that. This is different since they are not making their own spin on things but actually being in charge of releasing straight takara products in Asia.
