TakaraTomy has updated their Transformers website with Henkei (Classics).

The Henkei series will be released in Japan later this month. The first wave will include:

Optimus Prime

Bumblebee

Grimlock

Mirage

Megatron

As a bonus, Toys R US Japan is offering a free limited Legend Transformers, Skyglide, for the first 10 people that purchase a Henkei from one of their stores. This event begins March 13th.

Oh man, I see Counterpunch and a few others collectively drawing in some breath at the sight of that Sky Glide...

Because of its rarity and the fact that it won't see release anywhere else? I thought it looked cool enough...I just don't have the desire or ability to chase one of those things down.

Sky Glide looks like a fairly easy repaint to make. Red spray paint, and then some glopy silver for the head, and a little black/brown/maroon, for the detailing...

Not that I will do it, but it isn't one of their best. 8)

I really like these figures for the most part, especially that Grimlock. The chrome placement seems a bit odd on some of the figures, but its nothing major. I'll definately get Grimlock, and maybe Starscream (I missed getting him Stateside, and the Henkei version does look a bit better).

I am all for exclusives and whatnot, so even saying this is kind of tough for me.

These store chase minicons just bring out an aspect of collecting (at least in myself) that I hate: having, for the sake of having. The fleeting moment of joy compared with the price and the actual amount of toy you get is really small.

I'd like to have those minicons, given the chance, I'd likely get them. But in a very real way where I tell people 'let it go' about the 07 seekers, I take my own advice where these minicons are concerned. The last thing I want to do is spoil the hobby for myself with resentment over what likely isn't obtainable.

(Though, these minicons aren't usually unobtainable, just retarded expensive by proportion.)

Why did they get rid of the rub signs? They look pretty nice but I think I will keep my non-chrome hasbro releases.

I like the transformation videos they made!

I don't know why they got rid of the rub signs. Hasbro's Megatron was one of the few that didn't have it in the first place, though, and that's the only Henkei version I plan on getting right now.
