This is a redeco of Transformers Kingdom Deluxe Class Fossilizer Paleotrex, whose already freaky head has been turned into what fans would lovingly describe as a nightmare's warm embrace.
Check the link out here for Hasbro Pulse's listing and here for Big Bad Toy Store's listing.
What do you think of this toy? The perfect addition to your beast wars collection or a redeco too far?

A nod to the 2006 build-a-figure, the next #TransformersTuesday reveal is a re-assembled classic, Deluxe Transmutate! She features break-apart Fossilizer pieces and her iconic innocent-yet-twisted face as seen in the “Transmutate” episode of the Beast Wars animated series. As adorable as Transmutate is, I am surprised to see a new figure. Even a minor retool.

$59.99
$60?
Did not even pay that for Thundercracker and Skywarp. not gonna pay that for Thrust alone.
Also, yeah totally called Transmutate back when Paleotrex was revealed and the rumor surfaced.
Don't think I need Transmutate though. Paleotrex is enough for me. Unless Paletroex is sooooo good when I get him, I need a mother one of him in teal and gold.

Yeah, no. $40, $45, I could understand. $60 that's just trying to pull one over people that want a Thrust. Seriously, there's nothing that justifies double the MSRP.
Best thing to do is to not buy it at that price. Otherwise, they'll just keep doing it. But alas, many will want to get it at that price regardless.
My respect for TFsource as a reasonably priced online option is quickly fading away.

Random thought:
Hasbro is reportedly going to keep a portion of an exclusive to sell on their own site (or, ideally, an additional percentage on top of what the retailer wants).
Alternative: Hasbro windows the retailers exclusivity, so that after the exclusivity period is over (say, one year) Hasbro can just straight up make a new batch, large as they like, and sell it themselves or to other retailers.
It's not like the retailer would care about the one item after a few months anyway. They've marketed and sold it and moved on. It'd make collectors a little less antsy about missing a figure or have to pay absurd aftermarket prices.
As an aside, I saw this morning that someone listed not one, not two, but SIX Earthrise Ironhide/Prowl sets on eBay, all for over $100. That's absolute insanity.

How is Hasbro mishandling this when distribution is up to Target? I don't know where TFSource got theirs from, but I doubt it was Hasbro directly, more likely from an overseas source like most exclusives that end up on these sites.

FYI the retailers basically tell Hasbro to give us exclusives or we won't carry your product.

Retailers effectively blackmailing hasbro by making continued retail shelf presence partially contingent on having access to exclusives that force consumers/collectors to visit their store if they want them, in the hopes that while there they'll get the rest of what they want from standard retail instead of visiting their competitors is the retailers' fault.

Imagines Target saying 'we dont sell Monopoly because Hasbro doesnt give us exclusives, you will have to go to mom and pops store down the road that never sells exclusives but has Monopoly'
Not seeing it.

You're comparing apples to chicken wings. They probably only mean TFs but when I first heard the explanation the term used was product. It originally started with GI Joe, as did the wave concept.
