chuckdawg1999 wrote:Every so often Hasbro will go deep and pull out a character that really hasn't had representation in toy form, in Legacy there giving this treatment to Jhiaxus. Created during the G2 comic era, Jhiaxus has seen representation in toy form, but those were repaints/retools of other characters. This Voyager Class release is the best representation of Jhiaxus from the comics we've seen. Transformation is very intuitive with a few interesting bits, I was quite pleased to see that the figure didn't have a fake cockpit. If you're a fan of the G2 era then Jhiaxus is a must-purchase.

Hmmmmm..... Maybe. And there's even enough space under that cockpit to add a core class "inner bot". Add two big guns, a small gun for the little bot, and maybe some blast effects and you get "Leader" Thunderwing!

testement to Furmans talent that even a character he intended to throw away STILL goes on to be a fan favourite.
i cant wait for the fig myself. its weird. the porportions somehow make him "stompy" looking , making him for more brute like than i expected.
but it IS how he was portrayed in the G2 book and that headsculpt is BANG on.extremely impressive as i doubt yaniger EVER intended him to be made into a toy.
getting a judge dredd vibe off him.
bout the only problem i have is the space/hollowness below the cockpit in jet mode that others noted. if he was to be retooled to a leaderclass Thunderwing with add on drone/weapons it'd make sense, though TBH i thought wed get that from a retooled sky shadow from titans retuns.
that lad was BEGGING for that.

You think Hasbro can get Prime Skyquake out of this mold?

Prime Skyquake's already leaked as coming in the Velocitron line, but as a Leader rather than a Voyager, so he'll probably get his own mold.ZeroWolf wrote:First-Aid wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:Cyber Bishop wrote:Overcracker wrote:Though I do wonder who they are going to retool him into exactly?

That's right...I couldn't remember if he was Voyager or leader. That said, most of the Leader classes recently HAVE been essentially voyager sized and the price points increased simply by adding different extra accessories like Blitzwing's giant Energon mitts. I don't know if we can officially rule out that diagnosis yet.

Why not? What's the precedent of a Voyager being upgraded to a leader without adding something substantial to it? The only I can think of was the Walmart Black Convoy (that I never even saw so never had a chance to buy - A Voyager Siege Optimus with an Earthrise trailer.)
This would be retooling a figure from one class to another, and while we can't say it 'would never' happen, I think we can say it's highly unlikely.

Blitzwing's a Leader because of his core figure's parts count and complexity. Take away those bonus fist accessories and he's still a Leader. They just threw those in to make him "feel" more worthwhile as a Leader when he really doesn't need them to still be a Leader class.First-Aid wrote:That's right...I couldn't remember if he was Voyager or leader. True. I guess what I'm trying to say- poorly, I might add (Damnit, I'm an NP not an English professor!)- is that size doesn't make as much of a difference of class as it used to. Leader Galvatron and Laser Prime are essentially the same size/height as Voyager Scourge and Cyclonus. Yes, it's the parts that make the difference, but this could quickly get made up by adding things like wing flaps, detailed folds in tailfins requiring additional joints, etc. With Jhiaxus, I feel like they can mold a lot of the details into the figure, bringing down overall parts count. Skyquake would need more detailing, I think, meaning a higher parts count and a more complex transformation. It makes no sense for Hasbro to make a mold without at least a second use for it planned (see my previous rants on repaints/Seekers and lack of imagination). Thunderwing? Maybe, but there hasn't been any announcement of that. Based on the announced characters, Skyquake seems the most logical choice. Also, if they successfully pull this off, suddenly Hasbro has expanded their production ability, adding the possibility of converting Voyager figures into Leader class and vice versa. Could result in more of the larger class of figs.
Maybe. Who knows.

Skyquake's listing is for the mainline, not Velocitron. The Velocitron Leader listing just said "LDR 2".Sabrblade wrote:Prime Skyquake's already leaked as coming in the Velocitron line, but as a Leader rather than a Voyager, so he'll probably get his own mold.
True thus far, but we also only have a single wave for next year leaked currently, as well as not having a guarantee that every exclusive for this year is already known (Amazon has been doing two sets of exclusives in the past years and only announced one so far, for example).First-Aid wrote:It makes no sense for Hasbro to make a mold without at least a second use for it planned (see my previous rants on repaints/Seekers and lack of imagination). No, they should not. They don't need to anyways since Skyquake is literally a Seeker mold. He already has a redeco built in of an even more popular character. The only thing I am dreading though is his G1-ification. We saw the reasoning behind Arcee's G1-ification, and Knockout comes from a G1 mold (Bulkhead has Optimus Rumours) but Skyquake's reuse is another Prime character. I really hope he looks closer to his Prime counterpart than any of the other Prime characters.

"G1-ification" isn't really a good name for what's happening to the Prime characters in Legacy IMO. G1, RiD 2001, UT have all been roughly similar in boxy shapes used, but Prime and Animated feature a whole lot more curves in their designs, and comparatively speaking really stand out. Plus curves into blocky altmodes... yeah... Maybe "boxy streamlining?"

I'm curious to see if they're also gonna make a pass at Megaplex with this mold, since we know from interviews that Mark consistently brings up Machine Wars, or if they're going to try to wait for an Energon Starscream mold or something to go more accurate to the original figure.william-james88 wrote:He already has a redeco built in of an even more popular character.
