Grapple's awesome, much nicer than Inferno IMO. Although he was one of my favourite characters in the G1 show, so perhaps I'm a little biased.

They look equally good to me. But I'm much more excited for Grapple because of his personality on the show.

The Master Builders was awesome, looking forward to seeing him with the UW04 Constructicons.

Kudos to Grapple. Amazing how much better his legs look with just a little more detailing instead of the plain panels on Inferno's lower legs and feet.

Though it occurred to me while looking at the comparison pictures that Inferno might look a little plain because of the saturation levels since red is inherently challenging to photograph.

Both figures look fantastic together. Can't wait!

Bring on Hoist and Trailbreaker and Decepticon Triplechangers Astrotrain and Blitzwing please!!! I would love to see the crane/ladder magic applied to the Triplechangers so that they can finally have two decent alt modes without one sacrificing the other. Galvatron, Scourge, Cyclonus, Blurr, Kup and Arcee would be fantastic also.

Fellow Seibertronians, following on from the surprise reveal last night, we now bring you clearer stock images of MP-35 Grapple. Seen below are shots of Grapple utilizing several of his accessories, as well as some comparisons to his mold mate Inferno. The accessories hail from a few different episodes specifically, the crane appendages and the black head are from 'Auto Berserk':

Whereas the blueprints and the model of the Solar Power Tower are from 'The Master Builders':

MP-35 Grapple also comes with additional faces, as well as additional bumpers, much like Inferno, and a miniature model of the Solar Power Tower. So check out the images, and let us know what you think of him in the comments below.

Completely agree. I know everyone has a slightly different take on what the Masterpiece series means to them, but to me, Masterpiece wasn't just making a high-quality representation of the characters; it was about bringing them to life in a way that mass-retail toys just can't, including the addition of details that weren't there in the cartoon or on the original toys but make them "pop" and feel more real.

With Inferno and Grapple on the way, my mind turns to the next figures. Surely Hoist and Trailbreaker have to be coming in the next year or so, right? One retools into the other with plenty of possibilities for Diaclone recolors.

I imagine so, since at least two third party companies are working on that pair.

Jazz and Stepper would be two others that come to mind that are immediately needed so that a potential Artfire could have his buddy. And then if they get around to Cyclonus and Scourge, you've already got their Targetmaster weapons (or vice versa).
Re: Transformers Masterpiece MP-35 Grapple Revealed (1822010)

I would kill for Masterpiece Jazz, Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge. Preferably with Targetmaster partners for the latter two.

I have a real soft spot for grapple.. Cranes were my first love as a kid before transformers came out and when there was an orange crane transformer in the local toy store... He was probably the single one tf I bugged my parents the most to get (not that I didn't bug them for all the others )

Now he's the mp I'm looking forward the most to!

I have my original g1 toy and an encore. Found the generations edition a bit lacking. I wouldn't be surprised if hasbro releases a new generations version of grapple and inferno... They seem to have changed their design philosophy and are homaging the original toys more...

So much appreciation for these handful of embossed rectangles, big deal.  Nah, but seriously I think that they both look great. Grapple has them and Inferno doesn't because of their character models. I appreciate these little touches and small differences between them besides the obvious crane/ladder and deco.

Hey, how come no one mentioned Megatron in their wishlist here? :-?

I still think this is pretty amazing:

No other Grapple figure has this feature. It paid off to omit the crane from his robot mode 30 something years ago. ;)

Man, thus is one mold where Takara really failed to outdo the 3Rd party version. MMC's version is just so much more detailed. Its like all of Takara's effort went to the "ladder magic" I might still get this version just so I can have an Inferno and a Grapple in different molds. :-?
Re: Transformers Masterpiece MP-35 Grapple Revealed (1822228)

I wasn't too excited about Inferno for some reason, but 'The Master Builders' just happens to be the ep I saw more than any other (was it always shown on Fridays? My mom was trying to ration my TV intake during 1st grade, so I could only watch TF if I passed my Friday spelling test), therefore this blew me away more than any other MP we all saw coming should have. I'm so far behind on MPs that I didn't think he'd be a top priority, but he suddenly is.

'Auto Berzerk', on the other hand, was one I never saw until Generation 2, after I'd read most of the US comic...so he'll have the orange helmet on 99% of the time in my collection. He'll mostly don the black helmet if called on to build Marvel Omega Supreme...whose MP and/or Titan toy is at least 2 years down the road.

Why were you expecting detail with TT's new 'no detail, smooth panels only' design direction for the MP line /:)

I don't expect that either because they haven't consistently done that yet. Way too many examples of them not doing this, in particular with the licensed vehicle based Masterpiece figures.

And if the point of the MP line is show-accuracy, making up extra details that weren't there defeats the purpose.

I'll take these official extra gadgets over a slightly gaudier sculpt any day. Finally, a toy with an official "generic Sunbow overhead claw", used to grab rocks by Seekers, Cobra, and Robotix (and others currently slipping my mind) when not attached to Grapple! Heck, once I've got the real deal, I'd be tempted to stock up on KOs just to get more of that claw, so my MP jets can grab that meteorite from "War of the Dinobots". (my foil ball)

I just realized that Hauler in that pic is drawn like Grapple's altmode's cartoon model but with Hauler's cartoon cab (and obviously colored in his toy deco), so if Takara were to ever do a MP Roadhauler, this could give us an idea of how they'd do it (retooled cartoon-accurate cab w/ green toy deco).
