Fellow Seibertronians! Are you thinking Transformers? Are you thinking Studio Series? Are you thinking discounts!? Then you should DEFINITATELY be thinking GEEK!

According to our own Megatronus (of Twincast fame!), it looks like some ThinkGeek stores are discounting their wave 1 and 2 Voyager and Deluxe Class Studio Series Decepticons. They were marked down to $16.97 and 25.97, respectively, and with the additional 50% off clearance items. The regular MSRP for Studio Series Deluxes is $19.99 USD and for Voyagers $29.99 USD. Megatronus was able to purchase deluxe Crowbar (wave 1) for all of $8.49, and voyagers Starscream (wave 1), Brawl (wave 2), and Megatron (wave 2) for $12.99 each! Keep in mind that Deluxe wave 1 also includes Stinger and Deluxe wave 2 also includes Lockdown.

Megatronus asked if GameStop was having a similar promotion, since GameStop owns Thinkgeek, but the employees drew a distinction between the two retailers when it comes to these kinds of clearance sales.

This might be old news now, but the sale of Hot Rod can be used in store, but, you have to have the page of walmart.com up on your phone (or whatever device you use) so that the cashier can see it. It took a manager to confirm it was the same item, but they did honor the walmart.com price of $12.97 in store.

I went to my local thinkgeek and no luck. They were on clearance but no 50 percent off sale.

I just went through this too. Apparently Walmart is only price matching their own website. It still took many minutes before the sales associate I was working with confirmed they are the same item... :roll:

Spare yourselves the hassle of employees who aren't in the know. Just order Hot Rod directly from Walmart.com, choose "Pick-Up in Store" instead of shipping, choose a store in your area (trust me, they'll have Roddy in stock), wait for the "ready for pick-up" notice in your email, then go to the store's pick-up lounge and sign in to the kiosk. It'll save you a LOT of time and patience, believe me. :)

Right. I was just taking advantage of an opportunity of passing by. I hadn't been sure I was going to buy one. (I have a G1 Hot Rod.) Part of it was the price, part of it was getting one in my hand at the store. I thought it would be no big deal to price match.

I guess Walmart has been dealing with a lot of price abuse...

Walmart and it was a pad of them stuck to the shelf in the TF section. Doesn't appear to be retailer specific either.
