New Galleries: Robots In Disguise Titan Changers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime

When we say Titan, the first thing that comes to mind is Titan Class figures, such as Metroplex or Devastator, of course, but we all seem to forget that there are figures labeled as Titans. Those are the ones the fandom refers to as "Garden Gnome Optimus Prime" or "Oh, those shampoo bottle plastic statues!"

We older fans and collectors seem to find these figures unappealing due to what they are, and that's understandable considering they carry the name Transformers, but don't actually do what the name implies. Kids, on the other hand, sometimes just want an Optimus Prime figure who can stand there and look cool while beating up his sister's Ken doll and what better way to do that than with an Optimus Prime figure that's all ready to go into battle?

Some fans and kids want a figure that's nice and easy to Transform, a desk toy that's just enough of a time killer to get through our monotonous days and Hasbro has finally come to the rescue! Titan Changers! Easy enough for kids to learn and master, while being quick and easy, not to mention affordable, for those of us who want to tinker and play, but don't really have the time or opportunity.

Which leads us to our newest Seibertron.com galleries!

Robots In Disguise Titan Changers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime!

Loving the intro to that story so much. Really hitting the nail on the head ;)^

The sad thing is we assume kids have no taste in toys, meanwhile the last time I was in the TF aisle kids eyes were glued to the generations/combiner wars figures. I had a chance to ask one such half-ling what they thought of the RID line and they said they wished TF Prime was still around instead.

They may have meant the design or the show. Hasbro's current endeavours are from overwhelming feedback that the toys had gotten far too complex in the movie era. They are curently trying to find their footing I guess.

Yeah, he did a great job. Way better than what I would have done. I would have referred to these as the Action Master Elites of our era which would have gone over many heads.

So Hasbro finally figured out how to get me to buy these Titan figures that I have excluded from my collection. Make 'em transform, and I'll do galleries of them!

Much better than I expected, both in terms of sculpt and in terms of having at least SOME articulation, but I don't need yet another Optimus and Bumblebee.

They make something along the lines of a Steeljaw or Grimlock at this size, I'm sold. (Or a Strongarm, but they hardly ever make female Transformers larger than a Deluxe.)

I just ordered one of those overscale (part metal 18cm/7"inch tall) Warrior Grimlock toys - I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives.

Shame I don't have the original RID-15 Grimlock to compare it to though.

Another week, another addition to our ever-growing galleries here on Seibertron.com - and we move to Japan again, and the Takara Tomy Transformers Adventure line (counterpart to Hasbro's Robots in Disguise) for a look at two slightly different decos on Generations Combiner Wars figures: TAV25 Runabout and TAV26 Override!

The latter is an homage to the Triggerbot of old, and a blue/red deco on Generations Legends Groove. The other figure is of course calling back to the Battlecharger from 1986, using its red and black scheme of the Blackjack mold. Click on any of the images below to view the full galleries!

I look forward to seeing Runabout merged with Grand Scourge sometime.

Gee I wonder which side he belongs to.

Really though, Runabout looks good, but I'd have to wipe off most of those :CON: badges if I ever got him. Either a big one on the hood -OR- the two on the doors, not both (much less another three on top of that).

Aww, no gunes for Override? I'm not too surprised since the original version lacks any weapons at ALL, but it feels like a really poor homage without some nice chromey pistols.

Well the original Groove design had no weapons, so not too big of a surprise :BOT:

Got Override in the mail last week, and I really dig that little figure. I love the paint job on him, and I haven't had any problem with loose joints that I've heard at least one or two other people having.

No plans to do them with the Combiners ... maybe when I do the Unite Warriors combiners, but not at this time.

If we're getting Runabout.....then where's Runamuck?

+ Why are they porting two molds(Groove, Blackjack/Rodimus) over to RID? I can't see them running out of ideas for figures already? especially when there's still a ton of Decepticons that still could be released in toy form.

& those two molds other feature to become a chestpiece would be a non plus! as they wouldn't be able to work that way with existing &/or current RID figures

He looks much better when attached to Menasor since his colors are more closely based on Menasor's roller car than Blackjack's colors are.

Takara put every CW Legends class toy in their Adventure line because they're selling the Combiners as five-packs in Unite Warriors to be as show-accurate as possible. Menasor and Defensor only had five members, not six, and none of them were chestplates. So Takara threw all of the Legends class molds (Powerglide, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Cosmos, and these two) into the Adventure line where they are officially ignoring any and all playability between them and the Combiners.
