Sawback is an homage to a Japanese only Headmaster figure, that transformed from a Lion to a head. This is really cool and the end result is a fantastic look Titan Master. Shield mode is a little odd, but Lion and hover mode is great.

Lion heads EVERYWHERE
Sawback really doesn't want to give up being the mane, does he?

I agree, but the names will pose a problem. "Overlord" has been used for Europe and Japan, but the US uses "Powermaster Gigatron" (HoC PVC Figurine) or just "Gigatron" (BotCon 2012) instead, suggesting "Overlord" can't be acquired as a trademark.

That sounds like a great idea.

Is it me, or does the lion mode look really similar to Stripes? And by that I mean the two fins in the back sticking upward, not the fact that they're both giant cats.

Easy but stupid sounding fix: One Titanmaster is named "Over", and the other is named "Lord". Though it doesn't matter to me what they call him. I'll call him Overlord like how I call Fellbat, Dezaras, and Ironbison by their respective names. It's my figures, I can call them what I want. Except for Twinferno. When I get him (hopefully), he's keeping his name because it is awesome. Sorry, typo there. I meant to say:

Too short and generic
Though if Hasbro did manage to get "Overlord" trademark, we can get "Gigatron" and "Megabolt" for the Titan Masters.
You know, I think that's the reason why the female Mega was the template and not the male Giga. "Megabolt & Powermaster Gigatron", how would that sound?
The rare instance in which a replacement name is cooler than the original!

Well in my opinion, Doublecross is a cool name. Not for this character though, but still a cool name.

There's a simpler way to get around any "Overlord" Trademark issues than by using the name "Gigatron". Just give him the very similar-sounding name of "Overload". Of all the characters who have used that name in the past, none of them have been prominent enough to have that name attached to any one of them on an iconic level, and in this day and age, only the recent RID 2015 Overload comes close enough to being a significant bearer of the name... which works in Overlord's favor since RID 2015 Overload happens to be a blue Decepticon tank, which is exactly what one of Overlord's two altmodes is.
Though, keep in mind that this is merely a suggestion for a substitute Trademark label for his toy. The fiction can go on calling him "Overlord", much like how Black Shadow keeps his name in the fiction while his Hasbro toys use the substitute Trademark label of "Sky Shadow".

Sawback looks awesome in lion mode. That mode is the winner there. his shield mode is not bad either, and I do kinda like it!

Or, y'know... "Decepticon Overlord". Hell, unlike things like "Autobot Ratchet" that actually sounds cool and like it could mean something; a literal overlord of the Decepticons. I can see kids wanting it based on that error of reading even.

so with these titan masters why do they need to be just headmasters i mean the concept of a "master" should include target and power masters too, right? it would give more diversity among the masters figures instead of all of them looking the same, dont get me wrong i like all the headmasters too and all these figures coming out look amazing i just thought it would be nice to have the other masters too

I would imagine that those who have tried and failed to Trademark the name "Overlord" in the past, having had to use the "Gigatron" name instead (Fun Pub, for instance, with their Botcon 2012 Gigatron and 2014 Kreon Gigatron figures), would have likely already tried and failed to Trademark the name "Decepticon Overlord".Kurona wrote:Or, y'know... But I don't want to!
I kinda suspect they'd try and call him something more similar to Overlord. Or maybe even just Powermaster Gigatron.

Just curious, why are we debating the name of Overlord when the listing on the computer said Overlord?

And further past experience has shown "Overlord" to be a name that has yet to be Trademarkable in the U.S. for toys of that character.
