Pete Sinclair from Botcon dropped us a note about general public tickets to the Hall Of Fame event.
05/26/2011 - A limited number of Transformers: Hall of Fame tickets are
now available to the General Public! If you are interested in attending
this exciting evening you can purchase tickets at the Pasadena
Convention Center portable box office on Saturday, June 4th, from
9am-5pm (while supplies last). Tickets are $45 per peson.
As previously announced, all attendees will receive a goody bag with
movie snacks and a 3D Cinemask which you'll need for a SNEAK PEAK of the
new Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie! Trust us - you do not want to
miss this event! The goody bag will also include a Hall of Fame souvenir
ticket, movie poster and some other great items from Hasbro partners!
Dress for the evening is business casual (no t-shirts, please).

But doesn't that prove why their wrong choices for a Hall of Fame. Everyone, even the fans of the movies seem to imply that within a few years, these movies won't have any kind of lasting impact on the franchise.
I guess it's my fault. When I think of, say, a Baseball Hall of Fame or the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they usually induct people whove had a true impact, not just the latest fad. (I might be wrong, what do I know). I was hoping this would be the same thing.
If, ten years from now, these movies were still fondly remembered by fans, I would see no reason for Bay and co to not be inducted. Right now, it just presents this HOF as just a dopey merchandising ploy

No. They won't.
They're in, while they can get them in.

No, people are NOT saying the movies won't be remembered. They're saying Bay himself probably won't be able/interested in coming to conventions 2, 5, 10 or so years after the movies. Huge difference.

The Hall of Fame is a joke and a half. Anyone taking it seriously as a matter to get worked up over needs to step back a bit from the issue. Within 5 years of this, anyone and everyone who has had an impact on the franchise will be in and we'll call it a day and lose interest as (no disrespect) second-string people start getting in.
On your second point... The movies have now been going on as a continuity for as long as Beast Era characters and toys. The movies have at least another year or more of active time. They will be around and have as much if not more impact than our beloved Beasties. I'm sure people will take issue with that measurement of the film franchise, but there it is.

There's no way Hasbro and Paramount are going to stop at three movies. Michael Bay might be done, but we'll be seeing these things at theaters until Optimus Prime is the next Pluto Nash.

Season 1 of Prime is done and airing. Season 2 is in production. Seasons 3 and 4 are in preproduction and have been outlined. WFC's sequel in the works. Exiles is coming very soon. Man, I'd really love to go to the HoF event, since gen. public tix are available, but $45 is a steep for an hour of ceremony, movie preview (comes out in 3.5 more weeks from then) and a goodie bag. Maybe for $20, but not $45. $25 TOPS if the goodie bag had really great things inside.

As you all know Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg were the humans inducted into the Transformers Hall of Fame at this year's BotCon. Take a look at their induction videos embedded below featuring various Hasbro executives and movie cast members commenting on their contributions to the franchise.

Yea, I guess it so happens that there a lot of people who knew from the start the HOF was just for kicks, sorta in the vein of Transformers being sort of a light-hearted fandom.
I guess there were also those who were hoping it would be a little more serious; perhaps something to raise their own feeling of belonging when the person inducted is actually a TF veteran of the industry, someone who they themselves really appreciate and, in a way, want to feel like they're part of some solid fandom that works on a logical sense, rather than a largely money-based one (of which I am convinced the HOF is).
I didn't really care about the HOF myself, so I guess I can't really complain as there is nothing I have beef with. I believe, like someone else also mentioned, that the movies really did so well due to marketing, and in effect aided Hasbro marketing. Also, when I say marketing, I'm not just talking about lots of trailer air time, but the visual content of them... explosions, lots of CG, lots of eye candy
basically.
I'm just glad I have all the oldschool TF stuff (a lot that I haven't even fully explored yet), and don't have to rely on just the movieverse. There is one sad loss though, If not for some of your posts, I wouldn't know which other people are really great at TF work, and now I have some help in deciding what next cool piece of TF material to get into... the HOF could have done that, if it were more based on quality of work rather than quantity of sales.
You guys gota relax more. Sometimes it's pretty clear from the start that someone feels Bay sucks, okay, whatever, who cares. Discuss with the people who comment positively on him then, and leave others to discuss why they were so terrible. You're not going to change peoples' opinions from forum posts (least it aint likely, since the movie is there for all to see and evaluate themselves).

I thought these vids were only to be shown at the hall of fame. It makes me a tad upset that I find them on the internets just a few days after attending the event myself. But on the other hand, I really wanna see the Erector vid again, so I'm torn

It was not worth the 45 bucks I paid! There wasn't even a dinner included like they had last year in Florida. I felt it was a waste of my time. Since what they showed is available online right now on the official site. I will never ever pay for something like that again! In fact I think I have a way to get my money's worth next Botcon! Hopefully it will be in a better/different location than this year. I wanna see new places!
