BotCon 2016 Dawn of the Predacus Box Art Revealed

Is that another deluxe Seeker I see on the left side in red and orange Predicus colors? Who do you suppose that is? Probably see a figure for him at the con.

If that's the case then what mold will they be using? A combiner wars mold? They said that they've retired the classics mold didn't they?

So Predacus is trying to grab my purse away, Ramhorn shakes his fist at me for some reason, and they're both puffy as hell. Is Pat Lee back or something?

Either way I doubt Pat Lee will ever be allowed to be near Transformers or heck any legit business again after what he did.

The problem is the puffiness. It's freaking INSANE. Remember the Micromasters mini-series? This is that, but worse. It be fine if it weren't SO. DAMN. PUFFY.

I'm not sure how your supposed to draw a blocky G1 transformer without making it puffy or making up a design.

It's Terrorsaur, through and through. But is it from Air Raid, or the Seekers?

I don't get whats peoples problems with the artwork its not even bad plus comparing it to the Transformers: mircomasters series is silly its basically an hasbro combiner boxset artwork, and it plainout looks pretty good in my opinion

He comes with two pairs of hand/foot pieces, like what the Unite Warriors sets have been doing.

Could you clarify? I meant that maybe predacus doesn't use brawls hand/foot gun - the one tied to that mold - since nosecone is coming out as a foot for computron, and that mold might have the special foot designated for that mold.

Or do you mean that they are using two copies of two hand/foot guns? 2 of breakdowns and 2 of skydives (tarantulas' foot kinda looks like airraids hand/foot gun, but I thought he was using rooks hand/foot gun)?

Other than the Dreamwave-y reaching, this reminds me a bit of the BW card/box art from the '90s. I like it.

Looks to me like it's meant to be Terrorsaur using the ROTF Breakaway mold.

Looking at the art, the combiner fingers are clawed. Think the ones in the toy pics are just placeholders?

No, that's just artistic license; I doubt funpub would have put that in the budget

If they make an Abominus combiner, I hope they make new monster molds and not just vehicles with fake monster paint. As Death, I prefer REAL monsters....

No beast combiners in the combiner wars line Hasbro says although they could make them in a few years.

True but it would be unlikely out of all the changes Hasbro/Takara have made with the Combiners none have been as drastic as changing the altmodes completely.



Only way they could do that is if they were them pre Terrorcon.

Well, I'm torn... I need me some beast combiners, but on the other hand, I loved the updated looks the graphic novels gave to the beast-formers like iguanus and company in Stormbringer and war within. So if they did completely reshell the vehicles and heads to look like cybertronian animal-based vehicles, I wouldn't mind that

Looks to be just a generic vehicle, not unlike those featured in the upcoming Powermaster-ish Optimus Prime.

He needs a Legends figure. All the other combiner box sets have 6 figures.

Honestly, I'd take both, I liked the Lego legends of chima vehicles, and I've always love the weird hotwheels stuff, so anything like that, or in between, I'd be good with

But this isn't a 'boxset' it's a botcon set, they are limited by rules and stuff, plus if they jammed in another figure, it would probably be ~$450, plus they are running out of characters they could ret-con into hanging with the tri-predacus council

That's totally Terrorsaur using the Air Raid mold, look at thewings and why else would he have an orange beak painted on the nosecone?

The tail fins are at a 90 degree angle to the wings and other tail fins, which tricked me into thinking Breakaway, but the rest of the back is wrong and I missed it.

However, taking another look, I'm still not convinced it's Air Raid. The wings look more like Skydive's to me. Same basic mold, granted, but with some significant parts differences.

I believe they're allowed to use anyone that's not seen on-screen as long as they're not a licensed vehicle, so the 4 on-screen Dinobots are no go. I think it has something to do with Paramount owning the design for the characters.

I was confusing them with the G2 boxes for Superion and Bruticus which had the little 6 figures windows on the left side

Terrorsaur is the more logical plabe, but what if its Laserbeak and Buzzsaw? They were Tripedacus Agents in DoFP until they got blowed up. Could be a fun TFCC nod to past work

OK, the more I look at it I'm definitely seeing Terrorsaur in that jet. If you zoom in you can see teeth painted on the side of the yellow "beak" and spots all over the back. It still looks like the Classics Seeker mold to me.

Would it really be that hard to remold the fingers? I mean, the thumbs are already pointed so they wouldn't need changing. I don't know if fingers are the same size on both hand types, but if so then they'd only have to mold the new fingers once and get four uses out of them in every set. It would certainly help towards justifying the price.

That was two years ago, and it was the San Diego Comic-Con. SDCC exclusives are released by Hasbro themselves, so they don't have the same restrictions.

Only Devastor has six.

Not only are the Legends figures not in the Unite Warriors box sets, they're not even in the Unite Warriors line; Takara put those molds in Adventure instead.

Well, I mean they were both released in 2014, last year had the platinum dinobots, but those are a store exclusive, botcon last year was the 'most wanted' and diaclone stuff, and sdcc was chromed out devs

Fun Pub cannot use:

• Any original mold from the 2007 Movie 1 line
• Any Movieverse mold of an onscreen movie character
• Any Movieverse mold whose design is owned by Paramount

I just realized how much I want Victorion's new hands/feet + weapons for Predacus.

Well, at the very least the weapons:




If you flip the blades of the sword 90 degrees, they could be reminiscent of Beast Wars Tripredacus' wing-claw-arm-thingie.

All the bug parts do make me think of it a little, I think it would be cool to see a sword-based version of his chainsaw-claw
