Buyer Beware: KO Takara Striker Optimus Prime Campaign Battle Blades

Posted by El Duque Mar 15, 2012 at 2:38pm CDT 181,352 views
Remember those Takara Toys"R"Us Japan exclusive campaign battle blades for DOTM Striker Optimus Prime? They were given away to customers who purchased 3,000 Yen in Transformers products at Toys"R"Us late last year, and command a premium price on the secondary market. If you're in the market for a pair of these and stumble across what seems like a really good deal make sure they're authentic and not knock offs. Two different groups are planning to produce knock off versions of these exclusive blades.

Authentic sets came packed with paperwork from Takara.

Well, as long as they dont fall apart then its fine with me if they're KO's. It'll be cheaper that way. :D

Buyer Beware? Have you SEEN how much these cost separate? This is a good thing!

Not if you pay a premium price for what you think is the real deal and end up with a set of KO's.

It's a good warning for people who MIGHT buy them thinking they're real, AND a good deal for some one who knows where to buy the KO's from and who has an Optimus who can use them!

WTF? I didn't know these things went for a stupid amount of money. I almost threw mine out when my wife's sister in Japan sent us a DOTM Starscream and Skywarp with the blades taped on the box. I guess I'll keep them after all and use them on my Battle hooks prime.

this is good and bad, good cause those who want them can now get them without taking out a loan but bad cause we all know some dbag out there is going to pass these off as real just to make alot of money.

It's funny because I was just discussing the infamous "Buyer Beware" forum title on the dino-cassettes thread. I know the site doesnt intend to glorify KO's, but by warning buyers you are pretty much admitting how good a job they did reproducing them. I call that "props". Im not sure why anyone would pay a crazy amount of money for some blades. An exclusive figure I can understand, even a mini-con. But blades ??? Cmon now. I call these KO's justice.

Hmm... is'nt a one piece black battle blade noticably not the real thing compared to a multi pieced silver and clear orange attachment?

The all black ones are prototypes, the third image down of the colored blades in the baggy with no instructions is the finished KO product.
