Canada's annual Transformers Convention, TFcon, has announced they will be holding their first charity auction for Make-A-Wish Canada. See details below:

TFcon is happy to announce we will be holding our first ever charity auction July 28th, 2012 for Make-A-Wish Canada.

The charity auction will feature many great unique items and we hope our community will help us raise as much as possible for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Even if you can not make the event you can donate via this sponsorship link.

Please join us in helping to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Make-A-Wish® Canada creates magical moments for children between the ages of 3 and 17, living with life threatening medical conditions, through granting a child’s one true wish. Make-A-Wish® strives to create hope, strength and joy by giving a child a much needed respite from being sick, allowing them to experience the wholesome enjoyment of just being a “kid” again.

Make-A-Wish impacts the lives of families when they need to know that their community cares about what they are going through, as their child battles for his or her life.

Make-A-Wish exists for one reason only – to grant wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions. Thanks for helping to share the power of a wish®!

Canada's annual Transformers Convention TFcon have announced their 2012 exclusive, Shafter, a redeco of iGear's Rager.

TFcon wrote:When his teammates need something special built, they call SHAFTER. After a stunning defeat and exile from the Savage Land, SHAFTER was determined to redeem himself. Called on by STRONGHOLD to completely redesign all fortifications after the breakout of TOXIN and his companions, SHAFTER is hard at work making sure every possible hole is plugged tight. His small size allows him to access many areas others can’t, but belies a strength that allows him to accomplish even the hardest jobs. SHAFTER’s mastery of civil engineering allows him to construct a solution from the ground up, drawing inspiration from the monuments of his home world and the wonders he’s found on Earth. SHAFTER’s abilities at design aren’t just limited to blueprints, either, and his cunning strategies have turned defeat into victory numerous times. Even with all his defensive skills, SHAFTER is no stranger to the front lines. SHAFTER is durable enough for the most toughest jobsite, and can shrug off enemy fire while “giving as good as he gets” with his powerful hydraulic arms or his induction rivet-guns. SHAFTER intends to make sure that the next enemy spy looking for trouble finds a lot more than they bargain for, and to prove once and for all that great things can come from small packages.

Shafter is a redeco of the iGear Rager figure. TFcon 2012 preregistration will go online tomorrow, May 1st.

You guys think this will be the inevitable Pipes repaint/retool... or another color, maybe like Black/red/orange like Road Ranger in the ehobby set. (??)

That said, anyone going that might be up for picking one up for me? :-?

Just booked my room. Being in NY, this is the closest big convention I can go to. Luckily I found someone to go with. Can't wait!

Cool stuff, but I'm not paying 100 for Shafter. If someone who's going wants to help me out, I'd be more than happy to compensate them.

TFcon has announced special guest Bob Budiansky!

We are honored to welcome Transformers creator Bob Budiansky to TFcon 2012 for his first ever Canadian appearance. Mr. Budiansky is responsible for much of the writing of the original Marvel Transformers comic, and conceived the names of most of the original Transformers including Megatron. He also wrote the vast majority of the descriptive tech spec biographies printed on the Transformers toy packages that Hasbro produced in the 1980s, giving each character it’s own unique personality.

Mr. Budiansky will be taking part in a Q&A panel and autograph session with the attendees of the Canadian Transformers Collectors Convention.

At first, I was reluctant to give credit to Bob... knowing he wrote some of the sillier comics through TF history (but given, that was comics in the 80s, which were altogether different).

But when I found out he wrote the original bios and tech specs, plus noted some of the other great comics he wrote... I had to rethink my opinion. Bob made some of the most important influences shaping the franchise and characters we love, and he's a SUPER nice guy at the conventions. I'm always glad to see him coming out, and have to give the man his due, now.
