First Look at Optimus Prime's CG Model on Rise of the Beasts Merchandise

Posted by william-james88 Apr 12, 2022 at 7:49am CDT 55,455 views
While we saw some toys already, we actually have our first piece of non toy merchandise for Transformers 7 Rise of the Beasts. It is a school folder with one side being a clearer shot of that Inca styled art with various beasts and the other side being Optimus Prime. It's basically the same look he had in the Bumblebee film but at least we get a very clear shot here.

This was found on the Russian shopping site WildBerries.

I picked up the MP version of Bumblebee/Movie Optimus, and unless these movie 7 figures have something really awesome up their sleeves, I see no need to get any of them. I've got Legacy Motormaster to save up for, so I doubt I'll have room for any more Bayverse style figures in this year's budget :).

Bonus points for the movie if they manage to tie Scorponok with the Predacons.

Paramount had a big presentation today for theatre executives only. It included a sizzle reel showing clips of Dungeons & Dragons, Mission Impossible and Transformers Rise of the Beasts. Here is a description of what was shown:

No Beasts were shown. Instead people saw Optimus, Bumblebee and Arcee. Arcee is said to look like G1 Arcee, Optimus is said to look like he did in the Bumblebee movie and Bumblebee looks like Bayverse Bumblebee (same car mode, same face, same visual cues). The footage shows Arcee hanging on the the side of a moving car as she is about to take shots with her gun. No Dialogue was utterred, it was only 12 seconds of shots across.

This description was lifted from The John Campea Show which discussed first hand what the group saw.

Usually, if a trailer is shown at an event, then it will likely be shown in a week or two to the public BUT if it is a sizzle reel like the one described, then it will not be made available for anyone else to see, ever.

I never liked John Campea, he always came off as the kind of movie guy I wanted to avoid of late.

It would't had made any sense regardless.

I agree that he doesn't get the minutia, but that proves that Paramount and Hasbro are still referencing enough of the older movies aesthetic for fans of those films to not be disoriented and still recognize that version of the character as something they are familiar with. Though we don't even know at this point if they even saw Bumblebee in robot mode.

I’ve always kind of had the impression that he’s not well liked in the LA film critic scene.

As is the case with almost every pop culture movie, the first look at new designs and characters is through the merchandise and Transformers 7 Rise of the Beasts (ROTB) is no different. Thanks to some slipper boots and pajamas, we have our first look at the Bumblebee design from ROTB. Of course we don't know how different it will look in the final film but this is the design Hasbro gave companies that licensed their brand for film related products. The look is very much a mix of what we saw in the Bumblebee film mixed with elements from the first Michael Bay film, going hand in hand with the statements of the director that his movie is a bridge between the different films, at least stylistically. Bad news for fans hoping to be done with Bayverse designs, but that was never going to be the case, as we saw that from the earlier product reviews. Of course, inspiration from Bay's live action films does not mean that the story or approach would be the same, since this is a different director and this film takes place in a different era.

We have another product shown featuring many faction symbols. It is important to note that the Predacon symbol is not there, which could hint at how little that faction is involved with the film. Remember, there have been no confirmation of any Predacon character being in the film so far. The listings for the various apparel come from BIG W.

If the orange faction symbol is not "predacon" (it's clearly not), what faction will it represent? :-?

One would assume "Terrorcon".

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm still a bit bummed Bee's gonna keep the same face. I still don't think it's the worst of all the Bayverse designs, I just like a lot of the other interpretations much more. Especially since I was hoping we'd get something more G1-y (not saying everything must be Geewun), because I think going for a hybridisation of the cartoon eyes and helmet with the toy's faceplate would more or less give us the same Bayverse Bumblebee (BBB) face but more in-line with what the BB movie gave us for the other characters. (At least, in my opinion.)

But I know this is THE iconic Bumblebee noggin so I am not even remotely surprised we're still getting it. :-P

He looks good! I like that they kept some of the Bumblebee movie parts, like his arms and feet.

I wonder if he will have the car doors on his back or if it will be like before, where the merchandise was based on the concept art.

I like that they're incorporating more yellow into Bumblebee's face and filled it in a bit. Always thought all the gray metal and open spaces was a little too "cold" and skeletal for such cheerful bot.

Because they're not Predacons?

Nightbird, Battletrap and Scourge.

Though I seem to remember it being said that they have beast modes as well, or at least Nightbird does? :-?
