First Look at Studio Series 86 Wheelie

This new blurry image has been making the rounds online today. It is our first look at Studio Series 86 core class Wheelie. It is unsure at this point if this is a wave 3 or 4. No look at the alt mode so far but one can assume it will be just as movie accurate as the robot mode. And it comes with the slingshot too.

This Wheelie I'll have to get.

I wonder if it will be compatible with SS86 Grimlock with the same peg holes on the legs? :-?

So what was the point of the Wheelie Accessory?

They mentioned on one of the livestreams that they didn't yet know they could make core class figures, so they included the mini-figs as a little something

Someone else can probably recall better than me

Oh ok. so I take it then that we can expect a SS'86 Daniel to follow now? As a retool (ish) of Spike?

My thoughts exactly! I don't see the same pegs/holes, but that could be because of the bad image.

I was wondering the same, though I'm not sure they'd go for it

Yeesh. Unless it looks better in other pics, I'll stick with the Legends version over that scrawny thing.

There's no better recall than that. That's what they said.

How would it be any different from Spike?

Anyways, I find it's kinds of crazy that Wheelie gets this many figures. And unlike other toys, like Perceptor where it's incrementally getting to the show accurate not headmaster version, we already had a G1 accurate Wheelie in TR. With this release we now have 3 different molds for G1 accurate Wheelies in the same scale released in the past few years, two of them transforming, and all in mainline releases. All the while, Optimus Prime himself is stuck using the same base mold for 4 mainlines in a row, even though it gives him vestigial parts.

While I get the fiddliness of TR Wheelie, I will keep that toy over this one. I really like the clear plastic window and the fact that someone can actually ride in him. They really went above and beyond for that little toy

Neat looking figure, will likely get it to complete the 86 lineup. Was never a big fan of Blurr or Wheelie so they're not essential but if I can get them at a deal I won't pass them up. And since I never got the Legends figure this version will save $20+ extra in tracking that older version down.

I guess I'll switch out my Legends Wheelie for this one. The little guys are cheap enough for me not to feel bad if it turns out to be a dud after I buy it.

But this is it for Wheelie for me. Last one.

That's what I thought, as writing. That's why I opted for "retool (ish)". As a smaller human head would be all I could think of to separate the two.

A friend of mine bought the upgrade kit for Grimlock & Wheelie. So it will be interesting to compare that Wheelie 2.0 to this upcoming Core Class one.

But, yeah. That is a lot of effort over the last few years. For arguably the worst '86 Movie character.

I think it’s great that they’re going forward to make a Wheelie that can pose with the Dinobots that’s not some hunched over static figure. However, he just looks off to me, proportion wise. The legs and chest\waist area looks funky. Maybe it’s just the nature of the blurry image, but I’ll stick with my Titans Return Wheelie for now.

Think I'll be sticking to my TR and Legends Wheelie. Chest may be better on the ss86 but those lower wheel arms are ugly and can't beat a toy that can fit titan master Daniel to ride in him.

Kind of weird going from a line like TR where I'd spend money to get a better deco/version of a toy or even both versions to not even wanting a toy in a line.

Tr wheelie looks great, and was the best version before this new one. I'd stick with tr if I already had it, seeing what an insignificant charecter Wheelie really is.

The tabs on my TR copy are too thick to properly transform him into alt-mode, which I thought was a universal problem with the mold. I was really happy with that figure at the time and plan to hold onto him, but this still looks like it'll be an upgrade for me, but then I don't have the Legends deco.

He was great in headmasters....ok...maybe not, but he was kind of a main character...oh wait that's still not a good thing. But even then compared to the humping robot version in baynus...poor wheelie.
