Flame Toys Hound Prototype New Image

This one has been a slow burn, but at long last, we seem to finally be getting some more news on the Flame Toys Furai model kit Hound figure. First teased in 2017 and given an advertisement in a Flame Toys catalog in 2018, the Furai model Hound uses the G1 Hound design as a basis before adding the furai stylization onto the frame and seemingly throwing in some movie Hound into the mix too. This Hound figure includes a heavily stylized look complete with lots of guns and what appears to be an eye patch head sculpt. Hound appears to be finally moving into production, with the tweet from Flame Toys showing off this particular image advertising that he is coming along and that with patience he will be seen soon.

Looks neat! In one of his many examples of deliberate irony, Bob Budianski made the first Autobot with a military alt the most peace-minded Bot on the original Ark crew, and these embellishments to his G1 design ratchet up the irony another notch.

The lower legs & feet look all kinds of weird (wheels in the middle, guard rails) and looks unnecessarily limiting the articulation or stability? It's certiainly not G1 or any IRL Jeep inspired. Is it derived from any comic design?

Nope, this is an original design, in the style of their Optimus, Starscream, etc.

Then it's even weirder that the toes are designed like that. A non-transforming, highly stylized and original design, but made to limit articulation (in the shot the feet can't lay flat to the ground, like, no ankle tilt)?

Oh I imagine the ankles have tilts, this is a rough look in comparison to the final product. There will be ankles, these figures have had 3 or 4 joints in the torso alone, they won't leave those out

This Rodimus figure won't be for everyone. For one, it retails for $400, and for two, it is non Transforming. But nothing stops us from checking out these pretty awesome pictures from Flame Toys. While it is the IDW Rodimus design, it uses lots of elements from other Hot Rod / Rodimus versions like the bow from Animated and the fishing pole from the G1 movie. That fishing pole is also a sword.

Here are all the details:
Retail price : US$400
Sale : around December, 2022
Size : 23 cm height
Material : ABS, PVC, POM, Diecast
Product description :
– 5 LED units. Eye, chest, 4 shoulders have light-up function!
– With outer armors to become Rodimus Prime!
– Linkage articulation gimmicks!
– Super-poseable with diecast parts for solidity and heaviness!
– You will get a powered lightning bow as bonus parts if ordering from www.d4toys.com, official shop SEN-TI-DEN, Amiami in Japan or Flame toys event.

Between this, the UltimetalS, and MDLX figures, I've had to reevaluate just how big a Rodimus fan I am. I'll probably only get the MDLX.

If didn't know who Rodimus is,I would assume he transforms into jet or starfighter.

We've known about this one for a while, but it doesn't look any less awesome. i would be lying if I said I wasn't really interested in this. this design remains the best Rodimus design.

I mean, it looks fantastic. But considering the price, the fact that it doesn’t transform, and looks nothing like the actual Rodimus Prime character; I have to wonder who this figure is actually for.

Not Rodimus Prime, just Rodimus. The base figure is how Hot Rod looks later in the IDW comics after adopting the name Rodimus. The extra parts are unique to this figure but seem to be reminiscent of Cyberverse Bumblebee for some reason.

They already made a model kit.

Hasbro will never make a figure themselves in this design so even though these don't transform they will sell to fans of the designs that can afford them.

So far, only 3P made a transformable figure of that Rodimus. I bought one of them. Clearly not worth the 150$CAN it cost me, but interesting nonetheless.

That is my personal favorite Rodimus design. It's so good.

I got the kit, still need to build it, and I love this version too, especially with all the optional armor bits

Are you refering to this?

At one point, Rodimus looked like that in the IDW comics

Ah, so it originated from the movie style designs that few people like to talk about, no wonder why I didn't recognize it.

You might have forgotten about this one but the rather controversial Flame Toys Windblade model kit has since come out and several reviewers who usually don't review Transformers toys are giving their take on it. This toy has had quite the crossover appeal since it is also a model kit and the design is more in line with a sexier design we see in different Japanese statue and toy lines aimed at older collectors. Even the face is far more stylized and doll-like than mechanical, and that goes for the rest of the model. We have two video reviews for you below. This is a hot toy (no pun intended) and it has garnered a lot of attention so if you want to be in the know, you can check the videos out below.
