Easily one of the heaviest-armed in the Deluxe class stands Hailstorm, named for him being able to launch 8 missiles upon the enemy. Genzhao of KOToys has managed to corner this bad boy for some very detailed photos. These images can all be seen here, although you have to register for a free forum account first.

I am for sure getting this guy, he looks sweet! And I love seeing new molds like this one, I get so tired of seeing so many freakin repaints ah!

This looks like it could be one of my favorite deluxe figures. He just looks so badass.

A little disappointed about the missiles, but at least he isn't covered in kibble.

Very, very chunky! I'm liking the giant-tread shoulders and the missle packs.

This guy is a wicked cool design. I can't wait to own him.

Looks to be one of the Deluxe molds of the year. Really looking forward to this.

This guy was in the ROTF game wasn't he? Does this mean we'll be seeing more game characters?

Bot mode remionds me of the Dewbot from the first movie. And those missile drones from the ROTF game. Which means awesome.

Wow, First I've heard of this guy, and I want one.

Overall design and especially the head design makes him kinda look like Brawl's shorter, chunkier little brother. :D

I am extremely excited about this guy, which is odd since he's not an homage character or anything. Guess I feel the same way about him as I originally did Lockdown before he got any fiction.

Dissappointed...I thought with a name like "Hailstorm" for sure it would be a seeker or a movie take on the G1 lavender rainmaker. :-(

The vechicle mode is cool though, I might be interested if I could see a pic of the real vechicle from the cold world era. Im tired of seeing tanks made up that never really existed like the old deluxe Bludgon mold and silimar voyager class mold used in the classics line.

Isn't he an homage to G2 Mindset?

Can anyone else see a BM Tankor redeco out of this?

Perhaps, but we're getting a Mindset repaint first.

So huge firepower = arms practically dragging on the ground like an ape?

Not sure I like that.

Posted by Prime Riblet on July 10th, 2010 @ 9:49pm CDT
I like the overall look of the figure, but the gold treads and missiles hanging out of the back are a bit much for me. I love the name though. That is a solid choice for a name.
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096596)
Posted by WheelJacked on July 10th, 2010 @ 9:57pm CDT
I think I may be alone on this one, but the pics have definitely soured me on this guy. He's much too ape-like for my tastes, not to mention being far too squat and bulky. It's a pass for me. I was really looking forward to this guy too.

Still looking forward to this guy. I like where Hasbro is taking the HFTD line.

I'd rather not buy two of this sculpt despite that I do like it, but I'd buy both if they give it a head move Mindset-ish that's less movie-ish.

Prior art:

Hailstorm's design lifts pretty heavily from Energon Demolishor's Hyper mode.

Posted by Swiftpaw on July 11th, 2010 @ 11:52am CDT
I love how this guy looks squat, bulky and tough without being plaqued by kibble hanging off. Are we sure this is a Bayformer?! ;) Hell with that, he's going with the Classics/Generations, he'll fit right in with the blocky build.
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096860)
Posted by Autobot032 on July 11th, 2010 @ 1:54pm CDT
No sir, I don't like it!

Too squat, too ugly, and just not my style.
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096871)
Posted by Skyfire77 on July 11th, 2010 @ 2:35pm CDT
Mmmm, he'll benefit from a better paint job (like all the ROTF toys) but I'm a sucker for the MLRS, so this is a definite buy for me. (Maybe two, one in Euro One camo, one in Desert Storm Chocolate Chip... :KREMZEEK:)
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096892)
Posted by kookaburra on July 11th, 2010 @ 3:43pm CDT
I can barely keep track of TWO missiles, let alone THAT many. But he does look neat.
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096974)

He looks great, probably the first not-in-the-movie guy who looks like he could be, definitely want to get him.
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1096978)
Posted by WolfDawg on July 11th, 2010 @ 10:09pm CDT
He's definitely not my cup of tea. He's too squat, ugly, and gorilla looking.

That being said, I like how Hasbro is starting to blur the line between Movie-verse figures and Generation figures. If you put Hailstorm next to Darkmount, you really wouldn't know that they're from two different lines. Hell, HFTD Sea Spray looks weird standing with the movie figures, but looks right at home next to Universe 2.0 Powerglide.

Odd, that's precisely why I like him. I love Transformers that don't adhere to the laws of humanesque proportions.

Oddly enough, neither does movieverse Starscream, yet I love his design. It's not exactly the most attractive, it is gorilla shaped, and..well okay it's not squat, but the other two are true.

I guess this one's just not what I was hoping for. But, when I got into the movie figures, I had the mindset to buy figures that were only on screen, not ones that weren't. Which is why I haven't bought most of the Scout Class figures. I think I have one.

This guy ain't gettin' bought either.

Since everyone thinks he looks to ape-ish, maybe a seeing this guy repainted into Beast Box!! I mean Overkill got a full size bot mode why cant Beast Box. Both have ape-ish looks and both carrying shoulder/back mounted weapons so what are we waiting for...

Win. Best not-already-glaringly-obvious repaint idea I've seen on these forums in ages. Plus, the compact-looking altmode works real well for an ex-cassette somehow...
Re: HFTD Hailstorm Images (1097178)
Posted by kirbenvost on July 12th, 2010 @ 12:37pm CDT
Hmm. I like the alt mode, but the bot mode's nothing special to me. Also no G1 homage, so I'm passing on this guy. It's all good, saves some money.

No but his upcoming repaint is. It's also named, aptly enough, Mindset.

Of course, this Mindset will be an Autobot (according to Hasbro's sketches), but it's still a nice homage

If the sketches turn into rality, it's a large Autobot symbol on the side of the tank. May take a large repro ;)

I don't know, if anyone should be repainted as MindSet, I think it should be a retool of Wreckage.
Which sucks, I thought no-one cared about MindSet so I figured someday I'd make one and then Hasbro remembers him.

I dunno, this year we're getting some really great deluxe figures this year. This might be the best years for deluxe figures, but I'm picking him up anyway. I understand his alternate head mold is the G2 Cybertronian Empire Mindset, which makes it a must.

Is anyone else feeling this mold would make a great Rhinox kitbash? From chain guns of doom to missile rack of doom! :D

Rubbing alcohol takes off unsightly paint apps. Just takes a little patience and some elbow grease. ...and really Mindset? Why do I give a crap about a poor G2 design character who had the same color scheme as 90% of the other throw away characters. I shouldn't care and yet I do. See what making friends at Botcon does? It makes you listen to other people's opinions. No matter how much you might hate yourself for it. ;)

I found out about MindSet(though I used to have trouble knowing his name) because of Onslaught's wiki page...
I learned about him before anyone cared, and I had this brilliant plan to(once I learn how to custom and whatnot) make a movie version...

Then Hasbro had to remember him too...

Still, I think Wreckage with a new head and vehicle mode weapons would work better.
