As I've said before ... there is no escaping the G1 Marvel UK continuity. Kudos to them for not ignoring it.

So the MTMTE & RID Annuals have material not contained in the respective ongoing series, right?

All I will say is this .All the books look awesome  ,most of the covers awesome  (The RID cover is alright [-( ) .But I guess 21 years later and now Spike is imitating Circuit Breaker as the Circuit Smasher! :michaelbay: . Looks good for a 40 year old too  .I really don't mind ,curious as to how he got to this point .I guess "I WAS RIGHT " when I said it would NOT tie-in to the G2 comic ,first the 21 years later ,and now Circuit Smasher! ,there is no way . But Simon is an AWESOME writer  so I really care less about little things .Like making it a continuation of the US comic ,so that is why THE WRECKERS :WRECKERS: (being sarcastic :P ) are in it . But to be honest I really love THE WRECKERS :WRECKERS: so I don't mind at all ,it is really about story for me ,and I just love the ride .

This is an interesting cover ...

I'm assuming the Seeker on the left is NOT Starscream. If that's the case, that makes 3 Decepticons on this cover who weren't alive at the end of the original Marvel run, and were all taken out by Starscream during the Underbase Saga in issue #50.

I like the Astrotrain and Kup cover much better, though "Circuit Smasher" is kind of...dumb. And I am a bit disappointed to see that the Wreckers are in the story. I never cared for them. Hopefully they only stick around for 1 or 2 issues. Otherwise, looking forward to Regeneration.

Yeah, without really knowing the story behind it, it just seems too similar to "Circuit Breaker". Don't have the rights? Then leave it alone.

But hey, they may prove us wrong and it could work out to be a good thing.

Circuit Breaker is a Marvel character, and Marvel own the rights to her

Yup, I think that's the point. Obviously Megatron has raised an army on Earth while the Autobots were away (as the cover for issue 81 seems to imply), and I guess he did so with the casualties from the Starscream/Underbase story. I think I see Blitzwing and Hun-Grr as well? In any case Ratbat, Astrotrain and Skywarp/Thundercracker were all destroyed by Underbase powered Starscream... It's cool to have them back! :)

As for Circuit Breaker and not having the rights to her, I'm sure Simon will come up with a cool explanation as to why Spike is now using the same tech :)

For once, I'm freakin' happy Spike is alive! G2 didn't really did him justice. And combined with Circuit Breakers tech  Also, I don't know what's the problem with the name Circuit Smasher - it sounds cool enough!

Actually, Ratbat was shot in the back by Scorponok. :-B

It's the continuation of the story from the original Marvel TFs series (i.e., issues #80+).

ummm yeah, hence why I said IDW didn't have the rights to her.

Question: Does Marvel have the rights to Josie Beller or G.B. Blackrock?

I'm a little lost: do the RiD and MTMTE annuals follow a sub-plot that maintains the link between the two Ongoing series?
