What I wanna see are comparison shots of Legacy Tarantulas with BW 10th Anniversary Tarantulas, which was the most show-accurate version of the original mold.

Lol I was actually the person who added that to the wiki, as an arthropod enthusiast it bugs the crap out of me that they gave the character whos name is literally the plural of tarantula a beast mode that is a completely different spider. Figure looks amazing though other than that

You are right and Tarantulas is not. Though I still get a greater sense of anticipation for Tarantulas than I do Wildrider because the anticipation isn't for wild rider in and of himself. There's definitely been more critique towards his toy than Tarantulas'.

There’s something about this figure like they accidentally made him too show accurate or something he just sticks out to me more than the others. But I feel the line took a turn with terrorsaur going full toon mode where every other figure looked more anatomically correct. I love this guy I kind of want them to go back and redo half of the figures lol I’m looking at you Scorponok and cheetor never looked right to me either

The two prevailing theories seem to be Armada Thrust based on the shape and Armada Starscream who we know is coming in Legacy. Screamer seems the most likely since the two have similar transformations. Cockpit on the chest, arms under the jet, legs in the back. Obviously it would be pretty extensively retooled.
My one complaint about Jhiaxus is I wish he was a little bigger. He's basically the Transformers answer to Thanos, he should be at least as tall as Kingdom Galvatron. Probably not possible at Voyager price and would likely limit how they reuse the mold.

Nope. Right there with ya.... no attachment to the character, so, skipping him entirely.
I'll wait for the inevitable retool... though I wonder who they can use the mold for that has not already been done recently.

It's still WAY better than what we got previously with that simple DELUXE repaint.

That one worked well as IDW 2005 Jihaxus where he was shown to be smaller then his G2/Regeneration 1 self.

When I ordered that Jhiaxus years after its release, I thought that it was probably the closest thing that we'd get to the Marvel comics version. Like, at least it was the same guy. Sometimes I don't think we recognize how absolutely spoiled we are as a fandom, the people who make our toys know what we want, even if that means we also get four different Impactors.

I was hoping the PvP Tarantulus review would profile more about the spider articulation, but they didn't seem to address that at all. He never touched the spider legs as far as I could tell. I see ball sockets at the mid-joint. But there doesn't seem to be any other articulation on the spider legs. They tab into the body, and they're all connected so they can't move and have to remain fanned out in the same position. If so, that's a disappointment because it robs the alt mode of the potential for some really great posing.

You know what's really odd? I had it in my head for the longest time that Jihaxus was red and black, until the Legacy toy was revealed. I'd thought this since at least the mid-00s when I fell back into the brand again.
You are absolutely spot on though. I think we can see a lot of this in the Dinobots release and the statements they made about them. It shows that while the brand will always be fir kids in a sense, the designers want to make sure the adults are having fun too.

Warden (and now whoever's currently in charge) can do for a brand.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: It's like Warden and Friends (and now the current team) all took notes about everything Archer ever said "NO!" to (G1-accurate designs, Headmasters, full Combiners, G1-accurate Arcee, all five Dinobots, Sky Lynx, etc.), and just decided to give us exactly that.

I miss Aaron Archer. WHy? Because he said NO to everything. The result was brand diversity, new characters, new molds. Now we get nothing but fanservice and the same characters over and over and over (I think the Seeker count is somewhere in the hundreds of thousands). I know I catch crap for being anti-G1 but I'm finding I'm more and more averse to it because that's ALL WE GET ANYMORE. Even the "new lines" (Cyberverse) are nothing but G1 redux. Is is successful? Maybe. Is it boring as hell? Yup. Same ol same ol. Nothing new. Nothing CREATIVE. No CHANGE. WHy? Because no one is saying NO. It's the spoiled child problem. What happened with the Bayverse designs? "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! NOT G1! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" What happened with TF:Animated? "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Not G1 enough! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Even with TF Prime..."WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! That's NOT ARCEE! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
That eventually changed as the series was absolutely outstanding an revolutionary; same with TF Animated. Did we get continuation for either? Nope. Right back to G1! And now they are G1-izing other lines because they weren't G1 enough. I used to love G1. Frankly though, I'm beyond saturation. I'm curious to see how many others are as well. Can I appreciate it? Not as much as I used to because its EVERYWHERE. It's like COVID...you can't get away from it. It's ruined the joy of G1 for me and it's well on the way to ruining Transformers altogether. We need diversity soon or the dead horse will be beat into little pieces and we'll be looking at 1989 all over again.
Ok, no more coffee for me.

What we need is for the TV show lines to go back to being as reinventive as they used to. Generations lines can continue as they have been full steam ahead, but the TV show lines need the diversity and uniqueness that First-Aid clamors for.

Personally, I'm not getting as annoyed by G1 as I did when WFC started (specifically when Earthrise started), and it's cause they're branching out a bit. Kingdom and now Legacy feel like a breath of fresh air because even though they were still half G1, at least there were non-G1 options. Legacy's started a little rough with two Prime redesigns (one heavy and one that's mostly faithful imo), but we're seeing them branch out at this point. Granted, I'm still annoyed that SS86 took up a bunch of slots of Studio Series, but that's thankfully calming down and it's returning to a healthier mix.
I don't think G1 needs to go away and be shoved into a box and forgotten about, but I'm a lot happier with the leaks and rumors for Legacy than I was when Earthrise came around, exclusively because Legacy is branching out and not just releasing the same designs as before. We still have an Optimus, we still have a Starscream, and we have an Arcee, but they're not G1 again.
And to undo my entire argument about moving away from G1, I'm still hoping we get a commander class Powermaster Optimus Prime/Ginrai and leader class Apex Bomber/Godbomber and a better version of Jazz with the optional door wings

Honestly, RID 2015 had the diversity you speak of, but it feels like Cyberverse became so G1-heavy because of all the "Animals SUCK!" backlash that was received by the designs for the Decepticons in RID 2015. By the third season, they were all mostly swapped out by a new take on the Stunticons with all their G1-based flavor. In hindsight, it was probably a sign of things to come.First-Aid wrote:Sabrblade wrote:What we need is for the TV show lines to go back to being as reinventive as they used to. I completely forgot about the RID 15 series. You're right about that. Initially it was a nice change. I think that was the last cartoon series I seriously collected. WHen Cyberverse came around, I was like "WTF?" and stopped to focus on the Bayverse SS line because they were CREATIVE. Say what you want about the quality of the MOVIE product...Bayverse had really unique new designs that, frankly, we'd never seen. Scavenger, Sideswipe, Arcee triplets- wheels for their feet! Makes sense, wheels are way faster than legs and feet...if you can do it, why not? A combiner with EIGHT figures? A vehicular combiner that had a bot make up half of the vehicle mode? New, different, unique. I think that came with the outside perspective that MB brought. He looked at the bots and said "Why don't they...?" rather than saying, "Let's just redo what we've always done" which seems to be the theme now.

This is an issue with the american entertainment industry as a whole, so you'll be complaining for a long time. Well, maybe not that long, probably only as long as it takes for Transformers to go the way of the superhero comicbook (since they're opting for the same strategy) and be basically dead. So a decade, give or take.
However, I don't agree that fan service is the problem. I loved WFC, I'm loving Legacy, and Studio Series is great. The problem is there's no alternative. The problem is the Bumblebee movie, and that Botbots got a cartoon like five years too late, and when it did it was some Netflix bare minimum effort stuff.
