Amazon Japan has opened various pre-orders for the first wave of the Takara version Transformers Dark Of The Moon toy line.
As other figures are mainly the same as Hasbro version, DA03 Optimus Prime Mech Tech Trailer (Voyage Class) is different from the USA counterpart.
For the Japanese version, Optimus Prime is confirmed to come with a trailer. Also the Mech Tech weapon is different as it can turn the fusion canon to a battle blade. Also Takara has omitted the two huge "tanks" beside the (Hasbro version) Optimus Prime's alternate mode or at the back of Prime's robot mode.
Other different such as no transparent panels that especially visible in truck mode.

You can view Amazon Japan listing here.
The first wave Takara DOTM figures are expected to hit Japanese retails on 14th May 2011.

Why is it SO massive? Looks like a toy truck........

Looks like it can store alot of Mechtech weapons, that's pretty much it I think.

A funky mech tech armoury

Which is clever, because none of those weapons are good looking.

I'm hoping the same thing.
I'm holding out hope for this to get a US release.
With the gazillion repaints of the first voyager Prime, I think it is totally within Hasbro's MO to hold out until we've all bought the crappy first release to announce this one coming here.

Where as I will definitely see this as another disappointing movie product.
I'll be here all week people. Tip your waitress.

Provided this isn't available at retail in the US, it's a definite buy on sight for me as well.

A garbage can will give you the desired effect as well.

I'm wondering how many folks are gonna miss that comment entirely.

I'm with you. If this is released in Europe or Asia, this is a definite buy on sight for me too.
Aside from a size increase, I don't see any difference between this and the 3 extra G1 Prime trailers I have floating around just waiting to be modded into something suitable for any of my Movie or Classics Primes.

Hasbro's thinking:
Exec 1: Well, we should at least have a smaller version of the Optimus with trailer. You know, we'll just make a voyager with the trailer and we can get a few extra bucks out of everyone instead of making a standard voyager. How about we give him a more movie accurate gun too, that turns into his blade. I think the kids and collectors will buy that.
Exec 2: Nahh...who would want that? I was thinking we should tweak the idea you have and give him a totally random new oversized gun, put some random heat shield panels on him, put some random circuitboard patterns on his windows, randomly make his gas tanks twice as big as normal, then ditch the trailer and sell him for the usual price.
Exec 1: Ingenious! Let's do it!
